Hey, does anyone know where I can get info on the Horde of the Dragon Queen miniatures or any of the others Wizards is releasing?  Is there an official miniature list for the set?

This is the best and direct link to see all of Wizkid's D&D releases.

There is another mini set coming out in March and it appears that there will be more tyranny of dragons miniatures in it.

There are two really kick butt minis being released that are tied to the Tyranny of Dragons adventure- Tiamat and Bahamut.  Pictures are provided above.  They were released a few days ago.  My order should arrive at my doorstep by tomorrow.

I really don't like the 'flying' clear peg minis...But then I realized they're doing double duty: Wizkids is also putting out a D&D dragon combat board game. So...Oh well. I guess if we want those dragons, we have to put up with the worst/flimsiest base design ever, lol.

The attack wing models are nice, but will really set you back.  http://wizkidsgames.com/dnd/

I've glued the pegs onto the mini and base for my flying minis.  It has worked really well at stabilizing the figure.

The flying stands have been a hit or miss with people I've seen posting across the sites.  I'm somewhat in the middle as far as liking/disliking them.

I just used epoxy putty and thick-ish (don't know the gauge) sewing needles. The 'eye' end + putty on the base, and the sharp end impaled into the mini. It works great; especially considering it was just done with stuff I already had around the house.

But the point is, I shouldn't have to do that. Especially not for what minis cost these days. I do understand Wizkids' logic, though...as these flying minis are supposed to do double game duty. I just don't see myself using them for Attack Wing...Not too interensted in that game.

I've just started getting into miniatures.  Bought some reaper bones because they seem to be nice quality and cheap, but I'm not sure if I'll have time to ever get them painted, so I have been looking at the prepainted miniatures.

Is it just me, or do the tyranny of dragons miniatures look pretty terrible?  I was instead thinking about getting the pathfinder battles "lost coast" minis, which look to be painted significantly better- http://www.pathfinderminis.com/gallery15.htm Odd, since they are made by wizkids just the same.

If anyone is looking for some cheap generic minis, look for Mage Knight stuff.  I've clipped them off the bases and found a nice range of non-player minis to use.  I've got zombies, gnolls, werewolves, ogres, elves, etc.  If you can find a lot of them to buy from someone, you can get them cheap.

The plastic on Tyranny is better, but still rather stiff and a bit brittle. Not nearly as bad as teh PF minis though.

The posts are a pain and prone to breakage on teh smaller minis while the slotting is rather rough all around. It may look fairly nice in many cases, but the practicality approaches nil.

Is it must me, or has the painting quality of the miniatures slacked considerably?
