Just ran my daughters (9 & 10) though #‎DnD‬ Starter Ser adventure intro after some RP in Neverwinter. On the road, they immediatly suspected an ambush upon seeing dead arrowed horses Surprise almost TPKed them due to luck DM rolls! : ) They dispatched them, found and followed a trail up to their hideout. After resting and healing, we called it for today. They're picking it up quickly as its easy to teach/learn!! #‎FunStuff‬

Just out of curiosity, did you have to cheat/fudge your rolls to keep your daughters alive?  Because I pre-ordered the Starter Set myself and plan to run the adventure for my 12 year old cousin and his friends, and a big concern for me is that low level game play appears to be very deadly and random.  If that's the case, I might just start them at level 3, just to be safe, and because I prefer to allow players to roll all of the dice (ie, they roll the dice for when monsters attack them).

Sound like fun did you have just the two characters traveling together, or any NPCs sharing the road with them?i had three players and an NPC covering the four classes in our run of things and it worked very well and was loads of fun for all.

Cool! That's about the age my neices started playing D&D, too (though they began in 3.5). We're looking forward to moving on to 5e.

I love these sorts of stories. My son is 5 months old.  9 more years and I can teach him to play...

I bought the Starter Set to run for my kids, too. They picked Fighter, Rogue and Cleric. The three characters handled the opening scene with no DM fudging, all rolls made in the open. The Cleric had to cast one heal.

They made it to the cave and easily dispatched the guards. Next session will start at the cave entrance.

They have an NPC fighter with them. I didn't fudge rolls (that's why it was a near TPK!) and also didn't remove a goblin to account for the missing PC # (its supposed to be 4 PCs). But at some point a i had a goblin disengage and then move away to hide, after another  goblin's head rolled off!  It tried to flee but never actually made it.
