| #7frothsofApr 30, 2015 15:03:08 | I confirmed you cant dl copies as pdfs; thats unfortunate. I am not sure at this time if you can access it without being on the internet. At least its free. Not at all what I was hoping for though. Still, at least its free. |

| #10AshranfirebrandApr 30, 2015 15:22:48 | While I like the fact that Dragon magazine is in essence coming back, the medium chosen disapoints me. I am not found of reading on phone or tablets . I prefer to read either on a pc or on paper. It looks like it will come for android (I will have access at one point, provided I can have access to that future app in Belgium) so I think I'll have a look at the time it's available. But please, consider releasing it as a pdf (maybe sometime after the release on Ios and android, to give them the scoop, and a month later as a pdf, since it looks like it will be bi monthly). Like that, everyone would be happy.... |
| #11BoldItalicApr 30, 2015 15:28:14 | I'll never know what I'm missing. I don't have an i-thing.

| #15pukunuiApr 30, 2015 16:08:36 | Not my preferred medium, but I have got an iphone, so it's not the end of the world for me. I hope they do a Dungeon+ as well at some point.
EDIT: From Chris Perkins' intro: "Dragon+ is a digital descendant of a much older print publication called Dragon Magazine ... Before the internet, Dragon was how we got D&D news and previews. It was our doorway into the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. Dragon+ has inherited that legacy. It's a doorway to all things D&D. Enter freely!"
And from Matt Chapman's letter from the editor: "Dragon+ takes the traditional magazine format to the next level, making it more interactive and allowing you to enjoy it anywhere on smartphones, tablets, or computers. It will keep you informed on everything you need to know about Dungeons & Dragons - there's always more about the worlds of D&D to learn, or great bits of lore to drop on your friends to blow their minds. You'll get everything from information on current storylines, news and community updates, as well as creator and developer interviews revealing what's coming next for your favorite Dungeons & Dragons products." |
| (Reply to #14)AaronOfBarbaria | In a general sense, I expect to hear quite a lot of "not the format I would prefer" comments about Dragon+. It only makes sense given the other comments frequently heard about how WotC "needs to get with the times and go digital."
|
| #17Farmer42Apr 30, 2015 16:34:06 | Except this is actually how many magazines are presenting themselves now. It allows for things that print can't. This is the modern magazine format. Would you rather have something like Bazaar, where more than half of the magazine is advertisements? Because that's pretty much the only way physical delivery is possible these days.
EDIT: It looks like the post I was responding to was deleted. Feel free to disregard this post. |
| #18arnwolf666Apr 30, 2015 16:53:29 | I understand its the modern magazine format. But it should still be available on PCs. PCs and laptops are still very much used. |

| #20ankiyavonApr 30, 2015 17:44:41 | I have no interest in anything that's mobile-only, and it also sounds like this is purely news.
I mean, news isn't awful, but I liked Dragon having actual game things in it. |
| #21ZardnaarApr 30, 2015 17:48:19 | Its free but only on apple. Reminds me of a joke? How can you tell if someone has an I phone? They tell you. |
| #22ArtifactApr 30, 2015 17:50:08 | Yeah, that's the question I have: Is this simply a news outlet? In addition to the website?
Will there be gaming articles?
Mentioned already, but Dungeon+ would be nice.
Looks like I gotta wait for more . . . news |
| #23smacintushApr 30, 2015 18:08:15 | There is news, a comic by Scott Kurtz, articles about the Dessarin valley, Red Larch etc., an interview...in other words, it's not just news but the content, of this issue at least, does seem greatly skewed toward the current AP.

And with new tools announced yesterday they should just be able to recompile either their iOS or android apps as windows 10 universal app without any code changes. |

| #35LuisCarlos17fApr 30, 2015 23:53:27 | This is the future.
And the things will change when the (double page size) flexible display replaces the magazines. Maybe even we haven´t to pay, because we could get points watching spots.. like the sponsorpay from "sims 3 store".
* What about another languanges, what if I wish a Dragon Magazine in Spanish languange?
* Almost off-topic. Do you think the future of D&D will be the NFC miniatures? Let´s suposses a girl would like to play a neko (catgirl) character, and the closet PC race for that is the tibbit from Dragon Magazine Compedium. Then she buys a NFC miniature of a tibbit where she can donwload a pdf with the racial traits and even a exclusive list of racial feats.

And for anyone using the Chrome browser on their pc or laptop, there is an app for the browser that lets you run android apps through it. So if are willing to install a new browser, then you can read this on your pc. |

|
| #52Ralif_RedhammerMay 01, 2015 7:28:01 | Same here. Seeing issues of Dragon magazine at the local library was a big part of my introduction to gaming. To me it'll never be the same Dragon magazine if it's a digital format.
At least there's the awesome Gygax magazine, though that's almost entirely OSR-based.
|
| #53MrHotterMay 01, 2015 7:37:22 | I can understand not having a Dungeon+ in this format, but I do hope they find another way to give us some one-shot adventures. Some of my favorite adventures were from Dungeon. |
| (Reply to #31)mrpopstar | Love this! #HappyAppleChappy
|
| #55RCanineMay 01, 2015 8:54:36 | My biggest takeway from the magazine is that what Wizards considers "Dungeons & Dragons" isn't just a tabletop game anymore, it's an entire ecosystem of videogames, board games, novels. It looks like the audience for this magazine (and their Web site, which is why it's so hard to use) is a whole bunch of customer segments. Their primary goal for this magazine seems to be to convert customers between segments.
|
| #56smacintushMay 01, 2015 9:40:38 | Newstand grew by 30% last year. It's not dead, and despite its faults it's not dying yet.
|
| #57DemoMonkeyMay 01, 2015 13:33:33 | I have no Apple products, no tablet (or interest in one) and aging eyes that prefer not to read big chunks of text off my smartphone screen.
I am disappointed by this announcement but I will reserve final judgement until I see if they offer a Windows PC option, a dead tree format "Annual Best of Edition", or an e-pub version I can read off a good non-eye straining e-reader. |

| #59hunterian7May 02, 2015 0:50:51 | I'm very sad to see the Dragon Magazine reduced to what Dragon+ is. Dragon+ is a far cry of what Dragon was in the Paizo and 4E days. So much has been lost since 2008...too much. |

| #61Azzy1974May 02, 2015 16:30:53 | Cool! I can't wait until the Android version is available. I hope Dragon+ finds its feet and becomes a worthy heir to The Dragon of yore.
I mourn the death of the print magazine, but it is what it is. Then again, I also miss Roger Moore being the editor. :D |

Here's an example both to see if I'm allowed to do it (does exclusive mean don't share?) and also to make sure it views properly.
If it does work and I'm allowed I don't find fixing the link titles and posting the rest.
