As I am impatient and have little love for the realms, I have decided to undertake conversion of the original Eberron setting to 5th edition. If I can get the hang of conversion, perhpaps in its entirety. I have never converted anything so we'll see how it goes.

My goal is to try to replicate the setting as closely as possible, rather than "update" it or "re-think" it, so wherever possible I have simply replicated the intent of the original text.

Anywho...since I have ZERO experience with converting anything, I would like your opinions on whether I have captured the essence of the races and whether they need to be nerfed, buffed, or otherwise.

Changeling:

Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1, and your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Age. Changelings reach adulthood at around the age of 15, and live about as long as humans. Though once they reach adulthood, they never show any physical signs of aging.
Alignment. Changelings of all alignments exist, but most gravitate toward the neutral alignment. They focus on their own concerns without regard for laws or morals.
Size. Changelings vary, just like humans, widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Slippery Mind. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Cunning Mind. While you may not have the full Read Thoughts ability of your doppelganger ancesters, you can subconsciously detect the surface thoughts of others and use them to influence people. You have proficiency in the Deception skill.

Shapechanger. You have the ability to alter your physical form to take on the voice and appearance of any medium humanoid. You retain your statistics in your new form, and your clothing, armor and possessions do not change (note that in order to impersonate a specific person in this way, you must have been in close enough proximity to observe their physical details, hear their voice etc.). You have advantage when making deception checks to pull off a disguise created using this ability. The Truesight ability or the True Seeing spell reveals your natural form.
Languages. You are a natural linguist that can speak common, as well as choose two additional languages of your choice. One of these may be from the Exotic Language list, or a secret language such as thieves’ cant, or the tongue of druids.

I'm reasonably happy with the feel of this one as it's pretty close to the orignal, I'm really mostly unsure of the balance.

Kalashtar:

Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1, and your Wisdom score increases by 2.
Age. Kalashtar reach adulthood around 40 and live about a century-and-a-half.
Alignment. Kalashtar are generally lawful good. They combine a sense of self-discipline that borders on the ascetic with a genuine concern for the welfare of all living things, or at least their souls.
Size. Kalashtar are slightly taller than humans, averaging just over 6 feet. Your size is medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Dual Soul. Your dual spirits help you resist spells that affect the mind. You have advantage on saving throws against mind affecting spells and abilities, as well as possession.
Dreamless. You sleep normally, but do not dream. You are immune to effects that rely on the ability to dream such as the Dream spell.
Probing Mind. Kalashtar are masters of social interaction, influencing others through their commanding presence and and subtle psychic powers. You have proficiency in the Persuasion and Insight skills.
Mindlink. You can use the Mindlink ability 1/day. You use an action to form a telepathic bond with another creature within 30 feet, which must have an Intelligence score of 3 or higher. The bond can only be established with a willing subject. You can communicate telepathically throughout the bond even if you do share a common language. Once the bond is formed, it works over any distance, but only lasts for a number of rounds equal to your character level plus your Charisma modifier.
Languages. You can speak, read and write common and quor.

I'm less sure of the Kalashtar. I'm wondering if Dual Soul is too broad? Is Probing Mind (needs a better name) too much with 2 skill proficiency? Is there something better than can be done with Mindlink? What's wrong with simply giving the Kalashtar like...Telepathy 30'?

Warforged and Shifters are next. OBVIOUSLY.

Thanks!

I am not familiar with the Eberron setting, but I think what you have for the Changling is pretty good. Not over or under-powered.

I'm curious to see the Warforged conversion!

Changeling looks pretty good. The balance seems right, and you captured the feel of the race well.

For Kalashtar, I'd ditch Mindlink and just give them Telepathy (30 feet). It's not too powerful an ability, it is extremely flavorful and appropriate.

Maybe "Probing Mind" could instead be called "Naturally Empathetic", "Innate Empathy"  or something similar. I'd make it proficiency in Insight alone. Not all Kalashtar need be naturally persuasive. I think they'd all be pretty good at reading others, though, with the "cultivated calm" they typically display, and their psionic tendencies.

I'm not sure if they measure up to other PHB races, at that point. Maybe they get "Human Heritage", or some such, that grants proficiency with one skill? I think that about puts them on par with the PHB races. I'd post this in the Eberron forum to get more feedback. Maybe just link the thread here in a thread in that forum?
