Does anyone know if there will be electronic rulebooks for D&D 5th edition? I can understand why there might not be, given the risk of digital piracy, but I think the benefits outweigh the risks. One of the things I like about other RPGs I'm a fan of is that I can load all my books onto my iPad, and not risk having left a crucial book at home. Or being able to consult a book in the middle of a random discussion.

Alright, thanks. I really hope they decide on a solution. I'm the sort of GM who likes to 'collect' books, and I really hate having to carry a milk crate of books to game!

They have pretty much said, indirectly I suppose, that they will have electronic copies in one form or another.
Mearls has mentioned that yanking digital support was a huge mistake more than once, so there's good evidence for digital support. Now whether or not it will be a pdf? Who knows.
I've been collecting D&D hardcovers, splatbooks, and boxed sets for years and years. My shelves have been over-full for a while now. My room looks like a mad wizards laboratory 
. My wife and I made an agreement that I could keep what I already had (and not put the collection into off-site storage), as long as nothing new came into the house.
So, my plan for DDN is to buy the core books (PHB, DMG, and MM) and then rely on pdfs for the supplements. I'm really hoping they go this route because I really . . . really don't wanna have to stuff my books in an outhouse somewhere .
I vastly prefer print over digital but virtual space beats no space.
Most likey there will be .pfds. But merls probably doesn't want to say anything until he knows where/when/how it will happen.
Also, it's a better buisness stradigy. You relase the book, then you release the collectors version, then you relase the special edition with 2 extra scenes that where origionally cut.
