Fairy Folk Traits

Your fairy folk character has an assortment of inborn abilities, part and parcel of your sylvan nature.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Age. Many faerie creatures reach physical maturity at the same rate as humans and can live to be over 700 years old.
Alignment. Fairy folk love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect their own freedom, and they are more often good than not.
Size. Fairy folk stand between 0'6" and 1 foot tall and average between 1 and 4 pounds. Your size is Tiny.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 10 feet.
Lesser Invisibility. As an action, you can become invisible for 1 hour or until your concentration is broken (as if you are concentrating on a spell). Anything you are wearing or carrying is also invisible as long as it remains on your person. The invisbility ends if you attack or cast a spell.
Once you have used your lesser invisibility you can't use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
Tiny Creature. While your size is Tiny, you have disadvantage on all Strength saving throws and Strength ability checks, your nonmagical weapon attacks deal 1d4 less damage (this can’t reduce the damage below 1). A Tiny creature also has its carrying capacity halved and can move through and occupy another creature's space and vice versa.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Elvish and Sylvan.
Subrace. Two main subraces of fairy folk populate the worlds of D&D: pixies and sprites. Choose one of these subraces.

Pixie

Standing barely a foot tall, pixies resemble diminutive elves with gossamer wings like those of butterflies, bright as the clear dawn and as luminous as the full moonrise. Curious as cats and shy as deer, pixies go where they please.
With their innate power of invisibility, pixies rarely appear unless they wish to be seen. In the Feywild and on the Material Plane, pixies etch patterns of frost on winter ponds and rouse the buds in springtime. They cause flowers to sparkle with summer dew, and color the leaves with the blazing hues of autumn.
When pixies fly visibly, a shower of sparkling dust follows in their wake like the glittering tail of a shooting star. A mere sprinkle of pixie dust is said to be able to grant the power of flight, confuse a creature hopelessly, or send foes into a magical slumber. Only pixies can use their dust to its full potential, but these fey are constantly sought out by mages and monsters seeking to study or master their power.
Unlike their fey cousins, the sprites, most pixies abhor weapons and would sooner flee than get into a physical altercation with any enemy.

Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1.
Pixie Flight. You have a flying speed of 30 feet. To use this fly speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor and can't be carrying more than your maximum carrying capacity.
Whenever you use this fly speed a shower of sparkling pixie dust follows in your wake causing you to suffer disadvantage on all Dexterity (Stealth) checks you make while not invisible.
You also cannot use this fly speed unless your clothing, and equipment has been specially tailored, or altered to accommodate your wings
Pixie Magic. You know the druidcraft cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the sleep spell once with this trait as a 1st-level spell, requiring no material components. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the fly spell once with this trait as a 3rd-level spell, requiring no material components. When you reach 7th level, you can now also cast the confusion spell as a 4th-level spell, requiring no material components.
You regain the ability to cast these spells this way when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Sprite

In secret groves and shaded glens , tiny sprites with dragonfly wings flutter. For all their fey splendor, however, sprites lack warmth and compassion. They are aggressive and hardy warriors, taking severe measures to ward strangers away from their homes. Interlopers that come too close have their moral character judged.
Sprites can sense whether a creature is good or evil by the sound and feeling of its beating heart. Weighing the balance of a creature's past actions, a sprite can tell whether its heart beats rapidly in love or flags in sorrow, or whether it is darkened by hate or greed. The sprite's power to perceive the heart always shows the truth, because the heart can't lie.
In their forest domains, sprites brew toxins, unguents, antidotes, and poisons , including the sleep poison with which they coat their arrows. They venture .far into the woods to harvest rare flowers, mosses, and fungi, sometimes crossing dangerous territory to do so. If desperate, sprites even steal their ingredients from the gardens of hags.
Because they are judges of the heart and favor good creatures, sprites oppose the will of evil fey and pledge to thwart evil archfey at every turn. If they encounter adventurers on a quest to rid their forest of an evil fey creature or goblinoid menace, they will pledge their support and even come to their aid when the adventurers least expect it.
Unlike pixies, sprites rarely indulge in frivolous merriment and fun. They are firm warriors, protectors, and judges, and their stern bent causes other fey to consider them overly dour and serious. However, fey that respect the sprites' territory find them staunch allies in times of trouble.

Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 1.

Arcane Warrior. Your weapon attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Bonus Proficiency. You have proficiency with the herbalism kit and the poisoner's kit.
Heart Sight. You can use your action to reach out and touch one creature, you magically know that creature's current emotional state. The target can make a Charisma saving throw. If the target fails the saving throw, you also learn the creature's alignment. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Intelligence modifier + your proficiency bonus. Celestials, fiends, and undead automatically fail the saving throws.
Once you have used heart sight you cannot use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

Sprite Flight. You have a flying speed of 40 feet. To use this fly speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor and can't be carrying more than your maximum carrying capacity.
Whenever you use this fly speed you emit a droning buzzing sound, causing you to suffer disadvantage on all Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
You also cannot use this fly speed unless your clothing, and equipment has been specially tailored, or altered to accommodate your wings.

Heh. I've always had a soft spot for the little buggers, so its nice to see a racial build being developed.

But, there's a few problems here:

1. Racial ability score detractions/ceilings are a big no-no for this edition. I'm sure you have that strength cap to prevent some forms of percieved silliness that may arrive, but honestly, it's not needed at all: tiny size decrements their weapon damage and weight limits drastically, while the other parts of the "Tiny Body" feature all do plenty to to reduce their impact with strength anyway. Between these things, there's already enough to show that fairies are not all that strong without even touching their Strength score.

2. Invisibility, as presented, is much too strong to have at early levels, especially when combined with flight. If you want to keep this, you'll definitely need a malus to counteract that feature. Actually, reading the MM Sprite, it seems they get disadvantage on Stealth scores while flying. Adding that limitation to the fairy race might be a good start, though I don't feel it would be nearly enough.

3. The pixie dust ability is likewise kinda strong for 1st level. In fact, I don't see any such ability for MM pixies. Change it for fly 1/day, maybe per short rest if you really think it's that important.

Actually i've been having trouble finding the rules for weapons and sizes. Where is that detailed? Really hard to analyze this race without them.
