Howdy
I haven't found any rules in the PHB for fighting defensively (as in 3e where you'd get +2 on AC for a -4 on to-hit). Aren't there any in this edition or are they somewhere less obvious in the PHB that I haven't found? |

| #3RhennyNov 01, 2014 16:03:03 | There are no rules for actually fighting defensively yet. Just dodge action.

| #5RhennyNov 01, 2014 16:23:49 | In Horde of Dragon Queen, at 1st or 2nd level (can't remember now) my cleric and the group fighter plugged up a doorway making a shield wall taking dodge action while an NPC mended a gate and the others fired at the foes we held at bay. In the 2nd round, I got hit and went down, but the others were able to win the encounter. Our DM's dice were on fire.

Ah yes, thanks, I suppose Dodge action is now more or less what used to be "full defense" before.
I guess there won't be anything like Fighting Defensively though, as there's really nothing in between Disadvantage and no-Disadvantage. |
| #8melloredNov 01, 2014 18:45:10 | using a shield gives +2 ac and -4 damage. and defensive style give +1 ac and -2 damage. |
| #9PsikerlordNov 01, 2014 19:37:18 | There might be some optional rules for fighting defensively (aside from dodge) in DMG...? |
