Let me start by saying, I have run/played every edition of D&D ever conceived (yeah I know shows my age). There have been many things I have liked/disliked about every edition made. For me the worst version was 4th edition (just my opinion not starting an edition war). I moved on to Pathfinder and decided that I wasn't coming back to D&D unless they had something really superb to offer in the newest edition. Well anyway time to eat crow, seeing all the cool previews of the starter set I decided I would at least take the plunge and invest in the new starter set.   All this being said I have yet to run a single session from the new game as I just picked it up on the 3rd, I have however finished reading all the materials included as well as the free Basic rules PDF. Already I have a good impression that the developers of this latest edition have started to pay attention that this is a roleplaying game and not some kind of tabletop wargame as the previous edition seemed to try for. I will be running my first session of what at first read appears to be a well designed system next weekend and I have some of the old excitement returning in anticipation of how it will turn out.   Where they take this new edition from here I am not sure but I am rooting for Wizards on this one that they will make a come back and regain my confidence in their abilities to deliver good gaming products in the wonderful world of Dungeons and Dragons.    I don't see me or my gaming group abandoning Pathfinder at all as we have a lot of time and money already invested in it, but I do see us adding many game sessions of Dungeons and Dragons in there if things continue down the path they have begun with the Starter Set.   Anyway well done on the Starter Set and here is hoping you keep it on the right path.
