For every hour of fishing with fishing tackle roll d20: 1-5 nothing 6-10 you cought a ticket. Roll d100 on the Trinkets table to gain a trinket. 11-15 you cought a fish, meal equal to one pound of food 16-19 you cought few fishes or one great fish, meal equal to five pounds of food 20 you cought a gold fish, it casts bless spell on you if you let it go. |

| #4Brock_LandersSep 12, 2014 5:36:28 | What about the Tally-Whacker proficiency? |

If someone needs to do something extra-ordinary with mundane equipment, then there are existing skills which cover this. If someone needs to spear fish, catch a specific fish, or catch a large number of fish to feed a party... that would sound like a wisdom (survival) check. Same as if someone needed to use to tie two frayed ropes together that might be a dexterity or intelligence check -- with say the sailor background getting an advantage. |

My setting has gunpowder. One of the characters in it is training Artillery proficiency. |

Unless you're a dirty cheater who uses the Sinking Lure
Caught it as Child Link. Without the sinking lure. It took 5 minutes of solid reeling
But yeah, there really isn't any reason for it to be a proficiency. Plus this way the GM can make it more exciting. Such as the old classic "Oh great, you caught a horrible monkey-fish. Do you eat its divinely cursed flesh and gain immortality?" |
