#1 MerlinFletcher Sep 12, 2014 10:17:01	Greetings to all.  I am an old grognard (D&D brown books, Basic, AD&D, 1e & 2e) who is returning to D&D with 5th edition.   I've been asked to be a reserve DM (alternate with the main DM, running my own campaign with different characters), and while not a stranger to DMing, I am not really up for spending the time and effort needed to create an entire new world from scratch.   So, I am looking for 5e campaign settings, which will likely be in Forgotten Realms, as a starting point for my own homebrew campaign world.  The 5th Ed. rules are not completely published at this point, and the corrections/adjustments/errata that stablize the initial version are likely months away.   I don't feel sufficiently familiar with the new paradigm to strike off on my own in worldbuilding just yet, so I am asking the experienced DMs and worldbuilders here for some pointers to resources, such as a Forgotten Realms gazzeteer and any 5th edition published campaigns (commercial or otherwise) that are *not* part of the Horde/Rise of the Dragon Queen arc.  Those would be ideal, but any campaign-building resources I can use in 5th Ed. will be very useful.   Not having lived through the Spellplague and the ensuing idiocy, nor looked at the Sundering etc, I intend just to pretend none of that ever happened.    I'd prefer to find a part of the Forgotten Realms different from the Sword Coast to work in.   I have a couple of months to prepare, so at this point I will be absorbing the new rules, and the 5th Ed. versions of monsters in the MM when it comes out, *and* the DMG when *it* comes out, as well as playing in the main DM's homebrew.   Any pointers, suggestions for further reading, links to resources, etc., will be most welcome and received with gratitude.

But if you want more info for some particular region? Then between 2e & 3e TSR/WoTC managed to produce a booklet & map for nearly any point om the map....
