Anyone have any fun or celebratory D&D pics or stories to share on this, the eve of the 5e release? This should be a non-rules arguement/discussion thread. This should be a thread enjoying anything and everything we like about D&D.

Here's a pic my wife and I set up a while ago, just...Because we could.

Playing a spooky session of D&D in the dark, and having my fiance sneak up on one of the players and scare the crap out of him.

Good times.

I have a fun story.  During a D&D Encounters session in 2013 - utilizing the playtest rules, our group reached the finale and had to fight a dragon on the roof of a keep during a swirling storm.  In our group was a dwarf barbarian that just had a thing for dragons.  The player really got into role playing this barbarian and his animus toward these winged creatures.  As the fight starts, he decides that he is going to jump on the back of the flying dragon, the DM has him roll a dexterity check and up comes a 20.  Voila, he is now on the dragon's back like Ahab in Moby Dick.  After a couple of rounds of beating on the back of the beast,  the DM had the dragon shake the dwarf free, throwing him into the storm.  At that point, we all thought the dwarf was doa but due to the swirling nature of the storm, the winds tossed him back on the roof with minimal damage.  It was a great way to end that Encounters season.  While I don't remember much of the story, I will never forget that last encounter.

I was running the TSR silver anniversary edition of Return to the Keep on the Borderlands and segued into it by placing it in my homebrew campaign world. This was all using the playtest rules. The "read aloud" text upon first reaching the Keep has Sabine the Gatekeeper say the following to the PCs.

"I'm Sabine, the Gatekeeper. This is a peaceable place. We don't like brawling in the streets, folks stabbed in the tavern, or anything like that."

One of the PCs, a halfling rogue, gave my DMPC a nervous look, as in the town they had just come from, the two characters had been involved not only in a street fight that ended with several known criminals dead, but they fled the seediest tavern in town. Why? The halfling had come to the rescue of a wouldbe murder victim in the back room. Her gut reaction had been to run the man through.

I don't have any fun pics, but the Key & Peele D&D sketch is pretty darn funny.

Here's a pic of my very first ever Character Sheet, which I found about a year ago in a box when I was visiting my parents house. This was probably in about 1986 and we were playing with the 1983 version of the Red Box set. My friend who DM'd and introduced me to D&D didn't have any actual character sheets, so we just used lined paper, and as you can see, we took a few liberties with equipment (also, I've learned to spell much better since then). It's pretty cool to me to actually still have this.
