| #1pukunuiAug 05, 2015 18:09:36 | Hi folks,
I'm working on a new campaign for my group, and the players would all like it to be a long-term one that will allow them to develop their characters into the high levels. The thing is, the vast majority of the adventure content I've got is for levels 1-10. I haven't got a whole lot beyond that.
With that in mind, I'm seeking recommendations for adventures for levels 10-20. Any edition will do. Can be by a third party. Stuff from Dungeon is fine too.
Speaking of Dungeon, I've heard good things about The Lich Queen's Beloved from issue 100. I believe it's for levels 18+. Is it worth getting?
What about the later adventures in the original D&D 3e series: Heart of Nightfang Spire, Deep Horizon, Lord of the Iron Fortress, and Bastion of Broken Souls? Are those worth getting?
If you do have any recommendations, I'd appreciate it if you could please say *why* you recommend it (or don't, as the case may be), as that will better enable me to make an informed decision. Thanks! |
| #2gmanjkdAug 05, 2015 19:22:47 | Im not trying to be difficult but have you considered PotA for the 1st 13 levels? I asume there is a reason that you didn't go with that but in the off chance that you didnt think of it, its actually pretty cool. Lots of room for improv and great encounters. Lots of room for intrique, social encounters, dungeons, true love, R.O.U.S's, even though I don't think they exist. :P
I have not ran it but have read it and I thought that there was a good mix of encounter types.
Again, I assume you have chosen to avoid this adventure, and Im sorry if this is of no help. |

| #4gmanjkdAug 05, 2015 19:43:35 | I totally understand where you are coming from. One of the best campaigns i have ever ran was with WFRP 3e. My group just apprached it as an episodic tv show where the party traveld from one adventure location to the next......a little bear and pretzesl but who cares as long as everyone is haveing a great time. I ran a collection of non connected adventures and it was TONS of fun.
I totally respect your idea. Sorry I coundnt be of more help. |
| #5ZardnaarAug 05, 2015 20:13:22 | I have Lich Queens beloved and didn't think all that much of it. Also has a lot of monsters not in 5E for it. Labyrinth of madness is decent and it is for level 15 plus in 2E. It is reputed to be a PC killer though along the lines of tomb of horrors. The old C series from BECMI are on rpgnow.com but not sureif they are any good but its level 15 plus as well. |

| #19pukunuiAug 06, 2015 0:47:10 | OK. Sounds all right to me. I'm not out to do a 1:1 conversion. The main thing is just the skeleton of the adventure itself. As long as you capture the spirit of the thing, the specifics don't matter that much. Don't sweat the details and all that. I really just want to know if the adventure itself is decent. Is it worth getting and running?
EDIT: What about Heart of Nightfang Spire, Deep Horizon, Lord of the Iron Fortress, and Bastion of Broken Souls? Are any of them worth running? |

| #21pukunuiAug 06, 2015 4:23:46 | Hmm. OK. I was hoping it'd be a bit more dynamic than that, since it's based in the Astral Plane. I think I'll take a look at it online before I decide to spend $$ on a physical copy of Dungeon #100.
Do you know anything about those 3e adventure modules I mentioned? |

| #23UmbraCarmenAug 06, 2015 9:20:18 | Hi - sorry for the shameless self-referencing but I have put most of an adventure I ran over an entire weekend on this site. The adventure starts with 14th level characters but is adaptable upward is needed - just add monsters and tinker with DC's slightly. Involves Undermountain somewhat.
Click on my profile link and see: 14th Level AdventurePlayer.
I intend to finish writing up the end of it this month (after a long break with a new job). |
| #24THEMNGMNTAug 07, 2015 22:13:47 | I own Heart of Nightfang Spire but have not played it. From reading alone, I would recommend it. It's a very flavorful location filled with cool and interesting undead. The only downside is that it's a long dungeon crawl. You will probably want to cut it for length.
Paizo has a fair amount of higher level content, so you might want to check over there, including some of their Dungeon adventures. |
| #25pukunuiAug 07, 2015 22:21:36 | OK. Thanks! |
| #26BRJNAug 08, 2015 18:17:47 | "Dungeons of Dread" compiles Tomb of Horrors (L10-14), White Plume Mountain (L5-10), Expedition to the Barrier Peaks (L8-12) and Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth (L6-10).
ToH can be made harder by not permitting any research as to the special magical effects inside the tomb. EttBP is a Gamma World import to D&D, so with good narration it will look like something completely different.
As printed, all these look and feel like BECMI format rules.
full disclosure: I bought the book two days ago and have not played a thing in it ever.

| #27frothsofAug 08, 2015 20:41:14 | Isle of the Ape is a great old Gygax adventure that rarely gets played as its for high level PCs. Very challenging wilderness sandbox. |
| #28OrethalionAug 08, 2015 21:54:56 | The bloodstone modules were high level as well. At least one of them was like level 18-100.
|
| #29arnwolf666Aug 08, 2015 23:03:25 | I would kill for some 5E adventures of 15th to 20th level. |
