One good thing about 4e, it was incredibly easy to get a good sense of how tough a fight would be for a party.   I know that this information will be covered in the 5e DMG, but I was wondering if we have been given any guidelines in what we have so far (Starter set, Basic set)

What I mean is, how to judge how tough a fight of N number of monsters of type A and M number of monsters of type B would be for a party of 3, or 4, or 5?

http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/building-adventures-0 They say these rules are up in the air still. CR 1 monsters are readily able to one shot 1st level pcs, though, so do with them what you may.
