(I created a thread about this subject several months ago, but something happened to it so I felt a need to post this again, for the fans' sake. ;) )
My understanding is that Ubisoft has the rights to Strategic Simulations Inc.'s IP (including the AD&D games from the late '80s & early '90s) whilst Hasbro now has the rights to the Dungeons and Dragons trademark. Thus, as far as I'm aware, both these parties would have to work out a deal to get these classic D&D games re-released.
While I'm sure it's a complicated matter and will probably be very tough to come to an agreement, please consider the thousands of wishlist votes these games have on the GOG.com wishlist (see below), and the great PR that could result from a deal being worked out. I'd like to think, since there are various other bestselling D&D games on this service, GOG.com could work as a mediator between the two companies to help bring about a result (not to mention doing the DOSBox compatibility work to get the games tweaked for modern machines).

Wow... I spent a ton of hours enjoying these once upon a time. I remember buying Pool of Radiance while my family was on vacation and obsessively reading through the included rulebook until we were back home and I could fire it up. I would love to see them available again, although I guess the odds aren't so good if the legal obstacles are complicated.
If we're wishing, though - please make them available for Mac on Steam! 
I'd love to play Gold Box again.
I'd like even more to see the games, including their excellent use of zone effects, updated to current rules and better graphics while retaining their basic totally turn-based, tile-based feel.

These were great games. Even with the outdated graphics and old 1e/2e systems, I'd play them again at some point.
I'd _really_ love to see them brought into the modern age with 5e/other rules using the same stories.

Love the Gold Box series! I got the cd-rom collection back around '96, and I still break it out to play from time to time. There is just something special about the old classics.

The people behind Titan Quest (My favorite ARPG next to Diablo 2) are also working on a new game called Grim Dawn.
Even the old Final Fantasies, and Phantasy Stars are available for PC and PS3 now...Also, the Nintendo DSI and 3DS have many old school games out for them, and coming out for them.
It's indeed a good time for old school RPGs, JRPGs, and ARPGs.
Hopefully Hasbro will jump in this, and at least let them be ported to work well (and full screen, etc.) on newer OS's and machines.

Yes, please briong back the old games. Champions of Krynn, Pool of Radiance, Death Knights of Krynn and Pools of Darkness were great games.
