Ok so ive recently been playing "Neverwinter Online" its a game I have played in the past and i pick it up again with my Grilfriend. We have been fighting the undead, stoping level 20 wizards( inside joke with the game) from becoming a "god" and slaying demons. Its in this area(Helms Hold) you will meet a cleric "Brother Satarin", Who when talking to him and doing quest from him you find out that his god Helm is dead. I thought nothing of it when i first played though this area, but for the last couple of days its been bugging me. Who is Helm, What happend to him, Why/How does his power linger, and one of the big questions for me is can he be broght back to life?

I have done a lot of digging on the subject and have found out that in 1384 DR Helm got into a dule with Tyr and was Slain bu Tyr. I have also read that maybe he didnt die, that he may of merged with Tyr instead. What i want to know is where can i read about all this? Is it all in one place like a book, or a couple books where i can find out. What do yall know about the god helm?

I also would like to know about the Whole Death of a god thing, as in how do they die and can they be broght back to life?

Thx for reading

I haven't seen the story of the clash between Tyr and Helm anywhere but in the Grand History of the Realms (one of the very last books released for 3e).

Helm acts as the go-between between Tyr and Tymora (who are involved).  Tyr gets jealous  and the two duke it out.  Cyric is suspected to be involved.  Big surprise .

That's all from the book.  A Forgotten Realms wikia entry mentions that before he died, Tyr gave his godly power and duties to Torm.  No referrence though, so . . .

I stopped keeping up with Realmslore after 4e came out.  Maybe someone else is up-to-date about where things stand with Helm.

Gods in the Realms dies mostly by being forgotten or being absorbed, it's hard to kill one otherwise.

After the last Sundering (if you don't know the term, you don't need to research that), the big boss of the gods, Ao, recreated the world and thus brought some of the gods back to life. So essentially in a normal D&D context, any god could be back again. Helm for instance might be one of these gods, some of the brought back gods aren't even recoreded in mortal history.

Otherwise there are cases, that a dead god would be replaced by a mortal, who will become the god with all its personality in the process plus the memories of the mortal's life. And of course you can bring them back by using great power of belief or another power source to revive the gods, who lost all their powers due being forgotten.
