Hi all,

We all know that monster/NPC creation is a bit more of an art rather than a science in 5e.  There aren't really an NPC archer monsters in the MM except for the scout, which is only a CR 1/2.  I'm building something more in the range of CR 2 - CR 3, similar to the knight, veteran, etc. to challenge my higher level party.

I built this archer NPC using a bit of the fluff from the Ranger class and stats similar to the Veteran NPC in the MM (pg. 250).  Let me know what you think, please.

Using the "average challenge rating" method from the DMG ([CR 5 for AC] + [CR 1/2 for HP] + [CR 8 for attk bonus] + [CR 2 for dmg/rd]) / 4 = 3.875 (which is pretty close to the Veteran, a 4.125 using the same method, if I remember correctly).
