Out of all the monsters there, there really aren't that many who do more than 20 damage in a single hit. Off hand, I only noticed the Stone Giant's stone throw, the Dragons' breaths and the Assassin's poison.

Since it's pretty safe to assume these monsters use the final monster design guidelines, that is good news for spellcasters system-wide. For melee casters, War Caster is now more of a nice bonus than an outright feat tax like some feared.

I don't like what they did with the griffin in this pdf! In the old SRD document for 3.5 edition, the griffin is supposed to be an intelligent beast with an INT score of 5.  The griffin in this pdf has an INT score of 2, like a common animal.

Also, I wonder what PCs can do with creatures like giant frogs...are giant frogs edible?

Nice to finally see some monsters even if dragon is alphabetically sorted into the "a"s.

Not nice to see the ridiculous legendary system went live or the awkward and annoying recharge system.  It makes fights so ridiculous.  The blue dragon's flight ability for instance turns a huge monster into a ballerina and can completely ruin encounters.  Although 225 HP at level 16 could also make it a 1-rounder.

How come one of the adult dragons has an intelligence score of 8 while the other one has an INT score of 16?

Haven't white dragons always been considered the stupidest dragons?

"Are you sayin' I'm dumb?! (looks back and forth) You MUST be sayin' I'm dumb. You Muth******** *********** *** ***** ****!!!!11!"

And, now you're a frozen Hot Pocket (New! Adventurer Flavor! Now with 30% more elf!) he saves for later. He'll microwave you sometime during the Jersey Shore marathon. Gourmet, (or smart) he is not.

PS: You can't see his frosted highlights, because he's a white dragon. But they are there. Trust me.

It has Orc Kobolds!!!! Between this and the starter set there is enough to design some stuff with.

Edit BTTW thanks frothsof I really wanted to see how Orcs and Kobolds panned out compared to the big hitters of Bugbears and Hobgoblins.
