| #1RyluinFeb 17, 2015 12:50:55 | Hi all, this is my take on the generalist/universalist type wizard. I'm aware there aren't any restrictions on schools in 5e like there are in other editions, but still I fancied having a crack at it. Anyway, I put a lot of thought into this and had a lot of fun coming up with it, so I hope it shows, and that you enjoy it! NOTE: There have been some huge changes since the last comment in this thread (#30) was made, so please bear that in mind when reading the comments below!

At first glance it looks good, although the presentation isn't consistent with the 5th edition style (every 6 wizard levels should be at level 6 you get X, at level 12 you get Y and at level 18 you get Z).
i look forward to see what other people have to say about it. |

| #4AaronOfBarbariaFeb 17, 2015 21:29:12 | Scribing and preparing metamagic seems very strange to me, why not just have socery points and metamagic that work the same as a sorcerer's but in different amounts? |

One suggestion might be you can apply meta magic feats to your signature spell only or some other similar restriction. I dunno. There's some room for improvement but I don't know how. |

| #15arnwolf666Feb 19, 2015 1:25:31 | I would have done a couple things a little different. But this is exactly what the game needed. I never thought Sorcery points and metamagic should have gone to the Sorcerer. I really think those should have gone to the mage and called Arcana. I would have liked to have seen the Sorcerer abilities be more about bloodlines than metamagic and sorcery points. Just my humble opinion. Okay maybe not humble. |

| #20cowleymenFeb 19, 2015 2:52:21 | where did you get 7 sorcery points from? they get one per level from 2 at 2nd level on. So assuming your looking at 20th level, thats 20 points for the Sorcerer |

| #25Dougan_AxehammerFeb 19, 2015 14:55:14 | "Spell Thread... Raw Magic. You cast a spell of your choosing, expending spell slots and consuming material components as normal. You cannot use Metamagic on a spell cast in this way. |

| (Reply to #26)ZHDarkstar | Here's another possible idea for Spell Thread balancing that builds off my previous suggestions:
With these tweaks, Spell Thread becomes more like Transmuter's Stone + Master Transmuter. This gives you a massive array of options that let you dabble in various areas, but nowhere as effective as a wizard who specializes in one school. It also prevents you from sniping the high-level spells from other lists before getting Wish. |
