| #1TashiroAug 30, 2014 22:20:43 | Someone showed me a t-shirt this evening: Chaotic Good - Doing the Right Thing, Even If I Have to Kill Everyone In The Process. And I thought... that sounds more like Lawful Good, rather than Chaotic Good.
But it gave me a scenario where such an action would possibly be fully justified - and horrific.
What If... Take a fantasy setting. The Gods of Good are silent. The Gods of Evil are all but triumphant. You've got your enemy armies - twisted minions, or undead, or rampaging orcs, or dragon tyrants - and the forces of Good are trying their best in a losing battle.
The heroes have learned a truth. The Gods of Good aren't gone - they've not abandoned their faithful. They've set up another world - an entire realm - and are funnelling in anyone who dies to this world. The forces of the Gods of Evil can't reach it (though mundane evil certainly could), but the only way they can save someone without drawing the attention of the Gods of Evil is by letting someone die, catching the escaping soul, then resurrecting the person there instantly.
The heroes know this. They have no proof to show but they know this without doubt.
What do the heroes do?
I... might actually build this campaign to run. Hmm.
(Yes, I am a sadistic game master, and my players seem to enjoy the kind of scenarios I make...) |

The primal titans used the humanity to take revenge againts the gods (someting like videogame "God of War III"). The humans noticed Law vs Chaos was a good trick (good cop and bad cop, or double game, two opposite factions really controlled by the same hand). The humans created their own new gods, the egregores. The rebellion againts the gods was a succes.. and then the problems began.
You could add some tears of tragedy, not by bad luck, but by the vices of characters, like a warning to real world readers. The thread of the campaings may be "we had got the Heaven, the Paradise, the Utopia in our hands, and ourself spoilered it because we were too stupy".
One of my ideas for monsters is a twisted version of paper, siccors and stone. Undeads eats fays, Aberrations eats undeads, fays can defeat aberrations. All monster are potential predators.. and prey, but nobody is the top of the food chain. Werewolfs vs vampires is a cool classic conflict. In my settings the werebeasts are inmunne to zombi/ghoul infection, and they can hunt and eat them. Some infecteds wouldn´t be really zombies but "mutants" (fomorian giants, ogres, trolls, hags, even "natural" lichs..).
I like the idea of aberrations like natural predators of undeads, and dark fays could be a nightmare even for lord vampires and mommies.
I would add the half-dragons with blood from planar infernal dragons (chole, gloom, howling, pyroclastig, rust, styx, tarterian, hellfire).
Some monsters could be infiltrate among humans, even the same medusas.. (something like the reverse of druid's wildshape). Let´s imagine a scene like "Men In Black", where the PCs are going to speak with the mayor's wife and she becomes a hag. |
