House Rule for Saving Throws Idea

So, one thing I've seen come up in these forums before is that the Saving Throws in 5e scale a little differently. As in, only 2 of them actually scale and the other 4 don't at all. So, here's my idea for a house rule:

You add half of your proficiency bonus to saving throws that you are not proficient in. This means that they scale pretty slowly, but you're still better at shaking off effects after several levels of adventuring.

Thoughts?

I think people are letting the truth of prior editions cloud their judgement regarding the new rules and what exactly certain differences mean - such as that, yes, your "off saves" don't naturally scale... but the effects of failing a save aren't as dire as they used to be, and the base chance to succeed is actually higher than it used to be, plus we haven't seen high-level monster save DCs so we can't even see if there is a reason beyond PC vs. PC conflict to believe that 1d20+ability modifier doesn't have a solid chance at beating the DC.
