| #2SaelornNov 09, 2014 15:00:26 | It really depends on the campaign at hand. If you were going to come across a lot of giants, such that this might be a re-curring issue, then this rule will just convince the warlock to not take that ability. If you're mostly going against humanoids and large-or-smaller undead, then this rule will prevent a little bit of silliness in those edge cases. |
| #3setiNov 09, 2014 15:35:38 | I think it depends on how you choose to imagine it. This issue also came up many times in 4e, with AEDU powers that push, pull and slide with no regard to the victim's size or mass.
I personally imagine such abilities and spells not always litterally 'pushing' something huge, but rather they cause them to reflexively backstep, or whatever. For example, a fighter AEDU power that 'pushes' a gargantuan dragon one square on a hit could represent the fighter stabbing the dragon in the toe.
A spell that forces movement could also be imagined as a field of energy that makes it really uncomfortable (physically or psychologically) for a creature to stand in it, therefore, they reflexively step back if possible.
I'd rather not nerf the spell, personally. But, it's not my table, so do whatever your group agrees on. |

| #10melloredNov 09, 2014 18:28:39 | I agree with reduction rather then immunity. Though, i would make it for ALL forced movement. Repelling blast as well as thunderwave. Also, it's more weight based then size based. And iron golem might only be medium, and you might have a ghost dragon be collossal, but the golem might weigh more.
IMO: Creatures over 500 lbs are moved 1/2 the distance. Creatures over 1000 lbs are moved 1/4 the distance. Creatures over 2000 lbs are moved 1/8 the distance. |
| #11ZardnaarNov 09, 2014 18:51:14 | Thunderwave is a daily resource though , repelling blast is all the time and easy to pull off. |
| #12MechaPilotNov 09, 2014 18:45:36 | As a DM, if I felt the need to negate Repelling Blast on creatues of sizese above large, I would allow the warlock to apply Agonizing Blast (+ Cha mod to damage) to eldritch blasts against those creatures so that I am not negating one of her resources. |

| #16autolycusNov 10, 2014 9:07:02 | As the Warlock advances in level, he gets more Eldrich Blasts from the spell.
So how abou this as a house rule? If you want to push something very large, you must use more blasts.
1 Blast (level 1-4): Medium or smaller 2 Blasts (level 5-10): Large or smaller 3 Blasts (level 11-16): Huge or smaller 4 Blasts (level 17+): Gargantuan or smaller
This will also allow you to customize the force used. If a 17th level Warlock is facing 2 Large creatures, he can fire 2 blasts at each in order to get the push effect. |
