Seriously; how dare a small group of game developers paid and owned by a huge multinational toy company give us anything for free?!

How dare they!!!!!1!!!!1!

Everyone stop whining about free PDFs and how they aren't somehow good enough. (And I haven't even read it yet.)

It's not a 340 page hard bound rulebook. Nor is it three separate 340 page rulebooks for 150 bucks. (Significantly less on Amazon all available in late November,)

Kids, adults, D&D fans; please relax. Take a pill, drink a beer...And then thank a game company owned by Hasbro for not making the 5e rules a blind buy like their multi-million dollar earning card game.

I, for one, am quite grateful to WotC for giving us a good chunk of their new game for absolutely free.

Most pills should not be taken with beer.

I like how because it's free it's somehow immune from criticism.  If you're given garbage and it's free, I have unfortunate news for you: it's still garbage.  Am I supposed to be thankful I got garbage for free?

Just because something is free doesn't mean it's free from criticism.

I like that it's free, since I am stuck at work for 16 hours the day they release the Starter Set (Bah!). My opinion is that it is NOT garbage (obviously mileage may vary). Reading this PDF, I feel like, with the addition of monsters, I could run a wonderful campaign with just this. Is it the perfect game? No. But I still like it and am grateful to be able to read it and spin ideas for a game while waiting for this dreadfully long shift to end.
