So the ranger topics gave me an idea.

What optional downtime actions could we add? Which ones will you be using?

  • All: Increase HP (up to your HD maximum value)
  • Fighter: Learn maneuvers
  • Ranger: Learn Favored Enemies
  • Ranger: Learn Favored Terrains
  • Ranger: Increase beast HP
  • Sorcerer: Learn new metamagic
  • Wizard: Add Spells to spellbook
  • Warlock: Increase familiar HP

Your ideas?

I don't know if these are already options:

  • Learn a specific armour proficiency (e.g. a wizard learns to be proficient with mail)
  • Learn a specific weapon proficiency

Let me speak out loud what everyone here is thinking: 5e again needs rules for orgies

Would letting sorcerers gain more metamagic on downtime be too powerful?

Anything that adds options I likely won't do. Increasing power level from downtime is tricky.

Retraining is one option. Swapping feats/ subclass/ class choices.

Running a kingdom or organization might be another.

Building a keep.

Apprenticing a lower level character.

I think anything that could add to combat without advancing character power wouldn't be bad.

So yeah, learning maneuvers, learning more favored enemies, learning spells, etc. would be fine.

I can see stat increases after a larger amount of downtime...

  • Earn a new background (maybe after double down time)
