AFAIK I get to play 5E on the 23rd of August. We will be running the starter set and I want too use basic to make a character as well if the DM will let me. If not I will just pick a pregen character no big deal.
We will be starting at level 1 and I think I want to run Melvin a halfingling fighter who dual wields short sword. I have not really seen a great halfing fighter since 2E but my PCs seem to be picking a lot of dex based characters for some strange mysterious reason and the halfling reroll ability looks like fun so if I make a lot of attacks I will get to maximise it.
Melvins full name is going to be Melvin Erasmus Roger Copperpants or Merc for short (short get it huh huh I suck).. Merc will be a stout halfling.
Standard array, not going to worry about rolling.
15 Con (+1 Stout 16) 14 Dex (+2 Halfling 16) 13 Wis 12 Int 10 Cha 8 Strength
After racials 16 dex and con. Fighting Style: Dual Wielding Background Criminal AC 15 HP 13 Attacks +5/+5 dmg 1d6+3
Equipment (depends on gold) aiming for 2 shortswords, studded leather armor, and maybe a ranged weapon.
I thought two handed weapns were supposed to deal a lot of damage in this editon;) 2d6+3 doesn't seem to be as good as 2d6+6 damage witht he option of splitting attacks. Seems to be a nasty little combat wombat but I will not be to bad with dex based skills either.
So thats the concept in terms of mechanics, tempted to make him a feral/barbariantype halfling a'la Darksun or Eberron but not sure if the DM will swallow that.
