Is it just me, or does the Horde of the Dragon Queen book completely outshine the Player's Handbook in quality? Heavy paper and stronger printing seem to be the way of the day.

I do understand that the PHB has inummerably more pages and using the same paper stock would make it quite a bit thicker and costlier.

Just interesting to see that a module has a higher production value than a flagship core product IMO.

Read this as more of a praise about the quality of the module than a whinefest about the PHB.

I'm always amazed at how bias colours perception. I was just talking with someone else who picked up the book and he had exactly the opposite things to say about it than you.

Wow! Just goes to show everyone likes different things. :D

One thing I kinda sighed at was that a lot of the monsters and such are not in the book and have to be downloaded in the online thing. Not a problem for most people, I'm sure, and it saves money on the book and keeps our cost as consumers down, but...

High Quality, All the Stuffs, Decent Pricing: pick two.

is there a tread for HORDE OF THE DRAGON QUEEN questions?  i've seen this thread and a couple more with a review of thier adventures, but what about more nuts and bolts for example in the first session where is the mill and temple on the map?  i'm guessing the mill is 3 and the temple is 4, but does it say that any where?

I have both and very much prefer the PHB. The PHB paper is slicker and shinier, and I feel like it'll withstand food/drink accidents better than HOTDQ, I think. I am still satisfied with HOTDQ, but would be more leery to pull that out at the table. The PHB reminds me of some cookbooks that stand up well to spills/stains. Will it actually help in practice? If I find out I'll let you know but I hope that doesn't happen.

Oh and the glossy PHB paper makes the full page art REALLY stand out and grab you, like a treasure chest mimic! I prefer even non full page art in PHB and a large part of that is the glossy paper. Still a fan of HOTDQ, don't get me wrong!
