I was pondering what others would use as spells for Law and Chaos Domains.

I am not oppposed to using other spells and substituting law and chaos for say, Detect and Protection from Good and Evil.  However, can you think of any other spells currently in the book that would be useful for these domains?

Thanks in Advance.  I have started other domains, but I want to keep them in flow with the others, not making them too powerful.

Law is Stagnentation, Chaos is Change

Use those as a guidance. Anything which changes something into something else is inherantly chaotic, anything that keeps something the same is Lawful

Mmmm...."stagnantation" (stagnation) might be a derogatory way of putting it.  "Order", or "Predictability" might be how those of a lawful bent would put it.

And for chaos I'd go beyond just "change".  It should be change that threatens order.  For example, converting wilderness into picturesque farms is "change" but could be considered a good thing by Lawful types.

Not that the OP was asking for definitions.

Chaos Domain spells
1st. bane, inflict wounds
3rd. blindness/deafness, crown of madness
5th. clairvoyance, dispel magic
7th. freedom of movement, polymorph
9th. contagion, insect plague

Law Domain spells
1st. command, shield of faith
3rd. calm emotions, zone of truth
5th. beacon of hope, tongues
7th. banishment, guardian of faith
9th. geas, planar binding

These are my suggestions. I tried to stay on the cleric list of spells for the most part, but had to pull a few off other lists.

Thanks Kalissa.  I will go from there.   Just had a hard time thinking of which ones to use for these two domains.

As far as the other posters, thanks, and I was not looking for the definitions.   But they helped as well.   However, in D&D terms, I look at law as being order and structure, and I look at chaos as being randomness, freedom and retribution.   Of course, when mixed with good, neutral, and evil, these may change.
