| #1SwampDogJul 25, 2014 16:33:12 | My group and I are about to start our 5e campaign. We'll be starting at level 0, no classes, but with backgrounds and very minimal equipment. |
| #2ivstinJul 25, 2014 16:47:11 | Nice. |
| #3NovacatJul 25, 2014 16:49:16 | Why? Level 1 characters can already be killed by a stiff breeze. What storytelling opportunities do you hope to gain by stripping away anything else? |

| #5NovacatJul 25, 2014 19:13:19 | Way to engage in conversation... |
| #6FralexJul 25, 2014 19:20:55 | There doesn't necessarily have to be a lot of fighting. After all, if they're starting off as normal people rather than adventurers, they wouldn't really get into many situations like that anyway. |
| #7NautilusJul 25, 2014 19:33:56 | It'[ll be lots of fun! Even the bit where they get mugged by a three-legged housecat. |

| #11trebor_rjfJul 25, 2014 20:54:41 | your level 0 is simple and sounds like a cool idea, i might try it one of these days. |
| #12NovacatJul 25, 2014 21:20:17 | I'm not sure why people equate "I don't see the appeal in that" with "You shouldn't do that."
I'm not judging the OP. I'm trying to understand what the draw is. |

| #20MrHotterJul 26, 2014 12:07:16 | 0 level starts are a great way to work character creation into the game. It also helps to start the campaign where many good stories start, in the 'normal' world. |
| #21SwampDogJul 26, 2014 17:12:34 | We didn't want to start at our classes. We wanted to roleplay why and how we became those classes.
|
| #22grendel111111Jul 26, 2014 17:33:51 | My playtest game started with just scores and race. Then a short adventure in the orphanage they grew up in. Then time passed and they left the orphanage when it closed and chose their backgroynds for what they did between the orphanage closing and there adventuring begining. Next adventure was with race stats and background. At the end of that they decided class. And 3 adventures in they looked back and decided their alignment. |

| #26iserithJul 26, 2014 19:21:35 | I understand the jump from 1st to 2nd level only takes a couple hours of play. How many hours does it take to go from 0 to 1st level? Are you awarding XP? |
