| #1rookrockFeb 15, 2015 14:19:51 | Hi folks, I know I've seen it on conversation here but could someone direct me to some level 0 info? On another note, is there a search function so I don't create lame search threads like this? The forum faq is more than useless.
Thanks |

Add weapon proficiency dart, club or dagger and you are good to go.
One variant: I use a lower array, and increase stats after the 0 level adventure, because if you assign your final stats before the adventure, you already have your class in mind. |

Other variant could be a 0++ level, where PCs get "levels" without bonus to attack, save or hitpoints, only skills bonus and no-combat class features (for example about crafting). |

That said, if you want a "level zero," I'd say to create the characters by just rolling stats and picking a race. Then give everyone 1 HP (modified by Con mod) and end the level zero play sessions with a training montage so everyone can be in the normal levels, bonus points if you play "eye of the tiger" on a loop while you and/or the players describe the montage. |
| #11The_JesterFeb 18, 2015 20:39:23 | Honestly, level 1 PCs are so fragile, you don't need level 0 to have that horror theme. ;)
But, seriously, I'd give them a +1 proficiency bonus, d8 hit points, their background bonus, and that's about it. I might also have them "apprentice" into their class, gaining the relevant proficiencies, but no class features. |

| #13LuisCarlos17fFeb 18, 2015 23:38:32 | Another question is about future PC races with level adjustment (for example half-ogre), or a monster template(like half-fay). Could the "zero levels" be used to try a better balance of power? |

| #17Tony_VargasFeb 19, 2015 19:54:40 | Yeah, level 0 is level 2 in 5e. 5e's 1st'd be level -1. From the 3e/4e PoV, a 3rd or 4th level 5e character is just about durrable and capable enough to be 1st level. From a classic D&D PoV, a 3rd level 5e character can actually be an fighter/magic-user/thief, like an old-school elf could be at 1st level, so, again, 3rd = 1st.
