Secondly, you don't need to add any house-rules to recover - the system already allows greater restoration to lower exhaustion level by 1 (it's a 5th level spell available to a few different classes, and can even be found as treasure (a scroll) at any level of play according to the random treasure tables), and has potion of vitality which removes all exhaustion (and can be found as treasure or bought if the DM chooses). |

Berserkers should view their Frenzy as a 1/long rest overkill ability that happens to have a mechanic that lets them use it far more frequently (nothing stops them from just simply raging, which doesn't have any fatigue drawbacks, and reserving Frenzy for when it really matters; notice that Rage's benefits offset the drawbacks from lower levels of fatigue), and should strongly consider pairing up with a cleric after 9th level when Greater Restoration is available.
That said, I did contribute a potential anti-fatigue mechanic for another poster here. I like the overall mechanic it uses (I'm quite fond of "let's play around with concentration!" spells), but I definitely disagree with how low-level the spell is. (It should be at least 4th level, since it has one of Greater Restoration's major benefits and is actually better than it in some circumstances, but has a few bigger drawbacks and is of narrower use). |
