| #1Lobo316Apr 02, 2015 6:45:24 | I'm happy Prince of the Apok is out, however I do have to wonder...Where is the module support for 5e? I have to admit, I think 5e is the best rendition of the D&D rules to date (so happy to see 4e go away). But dang, even 4e had some great module support (some good modules, some not so much) but it greatly disppoints me to look out in the gaming landscape and see virtually no module support for the 5e ruleset.
So what's the story here? There is no shortage of talented writers out there who would like to write up a good aventure arc, or as Pathfinder does, "adventure paths". Wizards could even commison a 3rd party to do modules. It just saddens me to see so little in the way of adventure support from them. Am I missing something?
I don't mind a slower apporach with regards to splat books and settings, ect, but I'd really like to see some more adventure support.
Thoughts? |

8 months into the release schedule of D&D 4th edition? There wasn't even a single full-length campaign available yet (very nearly, though, since that is around the time that E2, the second to last part of the first full-length campaign, got released) and a shorter adventure split in two parts between the forgotten realms campaign guide and a separate module.
It only seems like there is less adventure support becauase WotC didn't break the campaign up into smaller chunks and release them one bit per month (or thereabouts) for an overall much higher cost to the customer. ($264.50 MSRP for access to all 4e's adventure content by that point, compared to the $129.84 MSRP for access to all 5e's adventure content up to now). |

| #11pukunuiApr 03, 2015 14:08:38 | FWIW, WotC has put out a whole slew of mini adventures for the Adventurers League D&D Expeditions program. There were like 14 or 15 of them set in Phlan for the Tyranny of Dragons season, and there will be another 16 set in Mulmaster for the Elemental Evil season. Most are for levels 1-4 but there are also some for levels 5-10.
To be fair, though, there are tons of older editions' adventures available online at dndclassics. It's not that hard to convert them to 5e. |

| #18DaleMcCoyApr 03, 2015 20:25:16 | I'm guessing you not actually read a full adventure path then. Each of paizo's adventures in any given AP make sense in and of themselves, in the same way that an episode of Babylon 5 made sense in itself. Sure, the plot of the episode advanced the overall arc of the show's season, but each episode made sense by itself. In the same way, each adventure in an adventure path makes sense by itself. This way, if you want to start your campaign with a 4th level adventure, you could pick up the second adventure and start there. Want to start at 7th? Start with the third and so on. Don't want to deal with a monster that is heavily featured in the third module (i.e. the player that has trouble demons/devils from the other thread), swap it out for a different module from a different ap and change how it is connected to the whole. A single campaign book cannot do any of that as easily. Sure, a campaign can be written to do exactly that, but that is not how HotDQ is written, at least not from my vantage point as a player. I didn't actually read that particular module. We did fight some minor boss monsters, but I did not see anything that would look like a good place to start your campaign here and it will still make sense. I imagine RoT had a good starting point, if you wanted to start a higher level campaign, but I didn't play that part. |
