Mmm, tasty. |
| #2Sword_of_SpiritAug 06, 2014 17:01:20 | Hmmm...so how did the copper dragon win the photo-op...

Show (Not really. I love it.)
|
| #5Azzy1974Aug 06, 2014 17:07:26 | Sweet!
Now the real question about the 5e MM is will the gold dragon have wings in this edition or return to its roots? |

| (Reply to #5)TiaNadiezja | That might just be the best thing ever. |

| #11vacthokAug 06, 2014 17:29:32 | Question is... is he sitting on a rock?
Or a mountain?
(I know which option I can't unsee...) |

| #13GrazelAug 06, 2014 17:48:40 | Very classic looking copper dragon and a good choice for the first page art. |
| #14iserithAug 06, 2014 17:51:43 | How many adventurers do you suppose will fight a typically Chaotic Good copper dragon? |

| #19TheLyonsAug 06, 2014 18:12:44 | I am glad they stuck with a metallic dragon. Gold and silver, while my favorites, are over done Imo. Out of brass, bronze and copper, copper is the one I like the best. Interesting choice yet it works. |

| #21NovacatAug 06, 2014 18:32:10 | Dragons in my campaigns, regardless their "alignment," almost invariably find themselves at odds with mortal kind. It comes with the territory of being huge, predatory, and arrogant. |

| #30DLfanAug 07, 2014 3:02:10 | I was right. The art in the Monster Manual will be better than the PHB. Nice look on the dragon. I could seem him staring at the party with a bemused look on his face as he savors a good practical joke. |

| #33JohnLynchAug 07, 2014 4:04:26 | I find the implication that we only need stats for evil creatures odd. Good can carry with it a lot of variance including some pretty apalling things in the name of the greater good. Also I don't typically have races who are universally of a single alignment, I like my world to have shades of gray.
overall I like the picture. Here's hoping it's representative of the artwork in the book. |

| #39quindiaAug 07, 2014 8:09:50 | In my campaign world Law and Chaos (in the tradition of Moorcock) are often more important than good and evil, thus a Lawful Good paladin may find himself at odds with a Chaotic Good dragon... the combat may not be to the death, but may be the only way for one side to see that their goals are achieved. With 5E's 'Knocking a Creature Out' rule it is easier than ever to stage the classic hero vs hero battle where the good guys slug it out without permanently removing the character. |

| #47Azzy1974Aug 07, 2014 13:49:08 | Y'know, it's also interesting to throw Good antagonists at a Good party. Just because they're both Good doesn't mean that they can't have conflicting goals. Alignments are only points on a compass, there are a lot of other things that make up a character. |
| #48ShasarakAug 07, 2014 14:06:17 |
|
| #49spelleyAug 07, 2014 15:29:55 | Good characters with conflicting goals can often come to blows with the right triggers. Hell, I could easily see an agent of Evil tricking a party into slaying a Copper Dragon through lies/manipulation. Also, my current party literally doesn't have anyone above a Chaotic Neutral in alignment so I am guessing I will need some stats for Good characters soon ..... |
| #50setiAug 07, 2014 15:48:57 | I like it.
But, as more MM pics are 'leaked' out, we'll see some we don't like. Look at the PHB. That frontispiece (the black guy, looking badass with 2 scimitars) seemed to make everyone happy. Then, other PHB pics showed on the internet, and people hated some of them (the female samurai, the warlock, etc.)
So, I'm sure people will find problems with some MM art too.
Over all, I like the 5e aesthetic. It's different from the previous 4 editions, but still familiar. The only piece I'm truly dissapointed in is the druid who has the typical club girl/cosplay midriff and cleavage thing going. Oh, and the cartoony Bakshi Hobb--er---Halflings. |
