Monster Size changes in the 5e MM

So I noticed that some of the monster sizes have changed in this edition and some of the minis are no longer the correct size.

For example, the giants are all now huge but the minis from the most recent set have large-sized bases (stone giant and frost giant).

The purple worm and it's mini were huge before and are now gargantuan.

Has anyone else noticed any monster size changes?

Yup. They have gone back to their 2e sizes.

Personally, I like to put something under them, like an index card, to make their base Huge so that it's easier to convey. A traditional dice container's top fits a medium-sized mini but takes up exactly a 2"x2" space, making it large (I use this when a medium creature is/becomes large!)

I need more inexpensive gargantuan and colossal figures though. But I'm cheap...So I occasionally use appropriate sized/shaped table decorations/action figures

Ya I don't understand the giants part.  They make them all huge in the book, but the minis they released are all large size bases, but they're all really tall.  And their reaches are all 10', so I plan on just running them as large in my games, maybe a boss character can be huge.

Personally, I really like huge sized giants...

There are huge-sized giant minis as well. The titans and such.

So just use the minis as is but apply the correct rules otherwise. The game won't change any.

My OCD gets a little bothered by size changes, but, I've been using 2" and 3" and 4" bases I made to up a size while using whatever mini I have for a while now. It's also not the first time sizes have changed. IIRC, 2e to 3e some did, and 3e to 4e some did also. Probably to make monsters cooler or more/less powerful, but also to sell new minis.

Size doesn't matter in TotM, anyway. You just say "This dude is large!" or "This dude is HUGE!" and leave it at that.

As far as size-rules go, like for spells, grapples, hit dice, etc. Well, then, yeah, of course you have to follow what's written. I assume the Devs balanced stuff for sizes to matter.
