| #1GattJul 03, 2014 23:06:08 | Thought I'd let people here know, Necromancer Games appears to have released a free 5th edition module tonight.

Enjoy |
| #2bawylieJul 03, 2014 23:06:43 | Thanks! |
| #3deadworld56Jul 04, 2014 6:10:30 | Interesting. It has a slew of pregens that may give us a preview into some of the other races and classes not in the basic rules/starter set. No levelling info, but a nice snapshot nonetheless. |
| #4PromJul 04, 2014 6:17:43 | I'll have to check this out when it's not so late. Thanks Gatt. |
| #5GnarlJul 04, 2014 7:03:11 | This is very interesting. Does this mean that other companies will be allowed to publish 5e adventures? |
| #6kev777Jul 04, 2014 7:10:47 | oh nice, I already have the d20 version of that module. They just converted it.
Imagine playing the Dungeons of Rappan Athuk in D&D Next? |
| #7Shadow_FrogJul 04, 2014 7:17:20 | There is no "allow"; the OGL is alive and well.
Big announcement coming soon regarding further support. |

| #12VanRicterJul 04, 2014 9:26:00 | I read over this last night and I can't find a stat block for the wizards familiar. Am I just not seeing it? Also I love the tie in with Rappan Athuk, we played months worth of the PF version. Hopefully Frog God games converts it to 5th edition *wink, nudge* |
| #13masterfat78Jul 04, 2014 9:44:04 | Is it me or did they roll for stats on these pregens. At first I thought they used point buy but the pally seems off. |
| #14WuzzardJul 04, 2014 9:56:51 | Maybe I'm just stupid, but how do you actually download this free to download PDF?
I've purchased it for $0.00 and received my order confirmation, but no means to actually recieve it.
Okay, I am stupid, I guess. I didn't get the follow up email the link and figuring out where the download link on site is is non obvious for first time user.
The MATHS is too hard! |
| #15masterfat78Jul 04, 2014 9:46:11 | The druid has a +1 scimitar starting out. Guess the froggys want to test out if magic items break the game play at early levels. |
| #16zoroaster99Jul 04, 2014 10:03:19 | In order to "purchase" the free adventure, you had to create an account. While logged in, go to "My account" at the top, and then click on "Click here to view your file downloads" and you will find the link to download the product. I'm curious to know if these pregens were indeed made with the final PHB rules for these classes, races and backgrounds? |
| #17starlord64Jul 04, 2014 10:22:31 | I didn't have to create an account or purchase to download it. I used this link:

| #18frothsofJul 04, 2014 10:41:22 | As long as its free and doesnt contain explicit sex and gore, i doubt you will ever hear a peep from WotC. Once u start trying to sell something is when u need to be careful. |

| #23kev777Jul 04, 2014 10:57:02 | Can anyone confirm if those pre-gens are valid previews of the paladin, ranger, druid, sorc, and monk?. |
| #24kev777Jul 04, 2014 11:16:04 | It looks like they are working from a copy in which Second Wind was called Gather Strength.
Here are the traits of the classes we haven't seen yet.
Show Elf Ranger Favored Enemy: Orcs, half-orcs, and giants. Belfin has advantage his group’s long-distance travel speed
Sorc Dragon Blood: Corian’s proficiency bonus is doubled whenever
Monk
Dwarf Fighter Resilient: Drebb has advantage on saving throws vs. poison
Gnome Fighter Minor Illusionist: Farkle can cast minor illusions at will, using
Elf Bard Sleepless: When taking a long rest, Flarian enters a trancelike, and who can hear the bard. That target gains 1d6 that can
Half-Orc Barbarian
Paladin Divinely Inspired Senses: By spending an action, Bannor can

I don't think it's a matter of "early copy". ALL of the abilities have slightly different names. I wonder if that's a legal issue? |

I miss the old line art! |
| #29ParaxisJul 04, 2014 12:10:31 | The question is are they working off a preview copy of the PHB, an internal Alpha playtest document, or making their own stuff up?
I would assume the Alpha inhouse document, but not sure. They do have some big announcment coming up on Sunday. |
| #30masterfat78Jul 04, 2014 12:58:28 | The rangers ac is wrong. |
| #31MythmereJul 05, 2014 16:13:13 | The names of various abilities are different for legal reasons, correct. They aren't in the SRD and thus they might be copyrightable. Hopefully it's not hard for the reader to interpret. |
| #32NicodaudelJul 06, 2014 10:34:35 | As a follow-up to their re-release of The Wizard's Amulet, Necromancer Games has announced a 5e-compatible kickstarter, presumably using the OGL. |
| #33Sword_of_SpiritJul 06, 2014 20:15:20 | I certainly hope the ranger is their own thing rather than based on the PHB version. I liked the way the playtest did favored enemy styles rather than the sort of favored enemy described here.
|
| #34LucienderJul 06, 2014 20:37:09 | It doesn't appear to be completely playable, as there is a first level spell called Witchfyre Bolt used by one of the NPCs and I don't seem to see an analog in the Basic pdf. So unless there's one in the PHB... |

Magic Missile is probably one of the specific names guarded as D&D intellectual property. |
