#1 Jongo Sep 27, 2014 1:33:23	Hey folks thought I would put up a quick post to ask some very basic advice. I have played around 4 hours of 4e with a random group of people at a game store here in the uk and I had to stop with having some problems in my family life. I feel that I not only don't want to continue with that group but would be weird after so many months have passed now bit I really want to get into 5e now and start again as a fresh beginning but I'm struggling to find players. Is it a simple case of me buying the new starter set and learning it properly before finding a team or just waiting for an opportunity as it seems where I live anyways d&d players are more of an underground cult than people willing to play. And my friends well they are just not interested.   To sum it up I want play d&d but feel like playing just don't exist that are new and my local game store just couldn't care less maybe it feels I let him down when I left ??   I live in Nottingham uk just in case anyone reading this is in the same boat    Thanks guys
#2 mellored Sep 27, 2014 7:21:21	You can get the basic rules for free here. That will let you familarise yourself with the rules without needing to spend money.   And you just need to go out and try.  The more open and friendly you are, the more likely you will find people.  The more aprehensive you are, the less likey you will be.

#6 Llenlleawg Sep 27, 2014 12:04:33	I'm not in Nottingham (I'm in Rome!), but I did a quick search, and it looks like there's a gaming store in Nottingham called Chimera. They seem to be hosting D&D Encounters (see the schedule here). Going to a gaming store can be a great way to meet other local, interested people, and Encounters is a good, low commitment way to get into the game (and meet some great people).   I hope that helps and that you can get back into gaming soon!

#11 pgmason Sep 29, 2014 5:31:50	Nottingham is the absolute last place you should have trouble finding a group, as it's the centre of the UK gaming scene.  Other people have mentioned getting along to the store doing D&D encounters, and the idea of asking around at GWHQ isn't as odd as it sounds.  I've definitely seen a group playing D&D in Bugman's bar there.   Some UK based forums you might find useful for finding local players:   http://www.ukroleplayers.com/ http://www.enworld.org/   Cheers Pete
