New Core Rule Books

So I recently purchased the core rule books for D&D 5e, and I wanted to know if there were plans to release "sequels" to the rule books, like they did in 4e with the MM2, PHB 2&3, and DMG2?

WotC has said repeatedly that they don't want to do that anymore, so it's unlikely we'll see anything like a PHB 2 or whatever. An MM 2 would be more likely, though, but still not guaranteed.

I’m glad to hear they’ll probably not be going that route again. Hopefully that will limit rules bloat. I think all DMs are in agreement that more monsters would be a good thing, though.

 

I wasn’t a fan of the multiple PHBs of 4e, but dang it if the DMG2 wasn’t a really wonderful book filled with advice and inspiration.

I liked the Skills & Powers and Unearthed Arcana Structure. monstrous manual appendix for planescape were a special treat, among my most prized monster manuals. When someone asks for Cheese & Powers or Smells & Magic, I know immediately what kind of material is being referenced. When we dig into an Unearthed Arcana, we immediately expect something above par, probably broken, and requiring DM approval. That's fine. I dont like to Tech it all out so it becomes abbreviations of PHB-3.2 or DMG-17 or whatever. That would drive me batty.
