Hey Guys, I created a dice app called "Dice Arena" on iOS to use for my campaigns and I would love feedback (it sucks, it's great, whatever..). I want to make it as good as possible. Also I want to share it because I really think it's very simple and is a great replacement for actual dice.

Anyway check it out here: https://appsto.re/us/OT5-6.i

My feedback: it's for iOS, and therefore completely irrelevant to my life. But if you like it and find it useful, power to you.

Ath-kethin, thanks! Actually quite valuable feedback. I'll work on an android version at some point. For now, I'm living in iOS land.

The first thing I immediately noticed is that it requires me to update my IOS to 8.3 before I can even download the app. Mostly I've just been lazy and haven't updated, but this might keep folks from downloading it. Not much you can probably do about that though.

I like it! I'll play with it some more and update!

Oh yeah good call! I think that's an easy fix actually... I'll fix that for the next version. Thanks!

I typically don't like using apps over real dice, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Having said that, I have messed around with a number of dice apps in the last couple of years just to play around with them in case I ever found myself needing dice when I didn't have any real dice.

The first thing I noticed is that for what that app is, it takes up a lot more space on my phone than other dice rollers I've installed. It's not ridiculously big at 77MB, but I've installed others that were anywhere between 5MB and 20MB that still had really nice looking graphics.

The second thing is that, on my phone at least, the rolling takes too long. The dice bounce up and around and it seems like I'm just waiting a little too long for the results. It's also pretty sluggish on my phone. I have an iPhone 4s, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but other dice apps run smoothly on my 4s.

I also couldn't tell if the sample image that shows "dexterity saving throw modifier: +4" is something that should show in the app or if that was just something you added as an example for that image, but I expected to be able to add ability modifiers to the app based on that image to have it automatically add those to the roll (I've seen apps that do that), and if the app does that, I couldn't figure out how. If not, the image is a little confusing.

I do like the look of the app quite a bit, though, and it definitely looks useful for someone who prefers digital rolling.

I generally dislike rollers (largely because I'm an engineer and I know how easy it would be to build a weighted roller). I also cannot play digital slot machines.

If I would use a roller, I'd want it to give me some basic stats (mean rolls for a session, deviation from mean, likelihood to hit a certain number, etc.

I'd also want it to support basic D&D concepts like advantage / disadvantage and rerolling 1s.

Also, the dice look awesome, but I'd look at your typography; tweaking your text a big can add a surprising amount of polish.

The dice roll too slowly for me. Otherwise, I like it. It's not particularly a stand-out. But it's good.
