| #4FFSAANov 12, 2014 16:48:32 | They keep sorting stuff alphabetically rather than in some useful fashion so you'll have necklaces, torcs, amulets and periapts at four different places, adamantine, mithril, elven etc. armor all over the place.
Adamantine armor doesn't suck and I'm sure a lot of players will be drooling over getting an animated shield. |

| #7MechaPilotNov 12, 2014 17:51:08 | The Apparatus is looking good, both visually and mechanically. After all this time, it's still one of my favorite magic items through all of D&D. |
| #8OrzelNov 12, 2014 18:02:02 | C'mon Man.
Ya'll couldn't fit ketchup, whiskey, mustard, or tequila on that chart?
The BBQs's gonna be suck now. All these gorgon burgers gonna waste.

| #9DaveDashNov 12, 2014 18:28:10 | The alchemy jug is awesome. My group is definitely getting one of those for christmas. |

| #11MistwellNov 12, 2014 18:54:55 | The organizational issue is to re-introduce a sense of discovery to the books. To make each cold read of the DMG a more unique experience, with a sense of mystery to it. This is something AD&D had going for it that was lost with 3e and 4e. Some people like it, others do not, but it was done with intent and I think it was Jeremy Crawford who spoke about it. |

| #15AaronOfBarbariaNov 12, 2014 22:32:56 | I like the details of the items listed, especially adamantine armor - no longer is it an "I guess this is useful," slight amount of damage reduction, it makes you critical proof. Fantastic.
As for organization, I find that the choice to organize entirely alphabetically makes it easier for me to look up things when I need to reference them during play, where I always know the name of what I am looking for but not necessarily any other detail such as what type of item it is or what level of spell it is. Basically, purely alphabetical is in my opinion the best organization possible for DM reference use.
Players, however, have times where they know the type or level of something they are looking for (a 5th level spell, or some cool armor for example) and might prefer a different organizational system so that they can look for things efficiently while not knowing their names. So purely alphabetical is not as good for player reference use. |

| #17pedro2112Nov 12, 2014 23:00:43 | Perhaps it is like the spells in the PHB. There may be the lists of magic items (and random tables) that are organized according to type, but all the items are listed alphabetically for easy reference. |

| #27AlHazredNov 13, 2014 6:41:18 | Something like this scene occurred more than once during 4E: "I have a blood frenzy belt. I think it protects me against that." "What does that do exactly?" "Don't remember. Let's look it up!" Someone pulls out the book they think it's in; it's not there. Someone checks the D&D Insider; apparently the name is incorrectly remembered. Eventually, someone finds it by searching on some keyword. This occurred for a number of reasons: there were a huge number of similar-sounding items; they were distributed across ten to twenty books, and each gave an incremental power boost. None of that will apply to 5E at the beginning; depending on the third-party release schedule, it could be a couple of years before bloat does the same thing. But one thing I like is that I no longer have to remember what kind of item it is. If an NPC has a wand of winter, I can just go to one list, zip to W, and it's there. |

| #31cowleymenNov 13, 2014 9:02:59 | Didnt feel like reading everything so, sorry if this has been mentioned already. But im hoping there are at least mentions of magical/supernatural materials. WIth the exception of a few higher level magic items, most of my low level magic items are going to be replaced with extrodinary materials. THat fire beetles carapice, man thats a great shield that grants fire reduction. Are muder-hobos are killing and fighting all these fantastic beast, I think it makes sense to harvest a few body parts. I want a unicorn-horn shortsword, which sounds great for fey bladelock or Oath of Ancients Pally |

| #33GrazelNov 13, 2014 10:37:24 | Once the DMG comes out and I can get the full magic item list (and maybe other things as well that might be useful) I'll be putting up a spreadsheet with Spells, Monsters, and Magic Items that lists relevant details for sorting purposes, as well as the source and page each is found in, as well as a tab with all the sources, and links to the download pages for anything that's one of the pdf files they put out. Some entries of course will have many sources listed (especially for monsters like kobolds who are in just about everything lol).
So far I have every book and official pdf (not including playtest adventures, only finalized 5e material) as well as the starter set.
Some idea of the information for each type: Monsters: Challenge, Type, Subtype, HP, Attributes, Size, Alignment, Speed Spells: Level, Each casting class (other than Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster), School, Ritual?, Casting Time, Range, Components, Concentration?, Duration Magic Items: Type, Sub-type (for things like weapons and armor), Rarity, Attunement? |

| #35ClutchboneNov 13, 2014 12:36:50 | Mayonnaise? Really? I bet that was a "It's 3am, need sleep, just finish that section so we can go home" decision.
Would you say that a character needs proficiency in shields to properly use Animated Shield?
Apparatus of Kwalish should have a 45 degree turn option. |

| #37iserithNov 13, 2014 12:48:55 | Some people say that a lack of mayonnaise is what sparked the Edition Wars. Now that mayonnaise in D&D, I see a lot less arguments over editions so maybe they were right. |

|
| #39ChrisCarlsonNov 13, 2014 12:55:19 | Also, remember that mayo is pure fat. So it isn't necessarily just useful for sandwiches. Makes a great lubricant. Smear it across the floor of a corridor as you make your escape and watch the badguys chasing you slip all over and fall on their keisters. |
| #40iserithNov 13, 2014 13:04:26 | And everyone laughed at me when my wizard invented the Apparatus of Relish. Add that to the mayonnaise - et voila! Tartar sauce that will send sahuagin running in fear of being battered and deep-fried! |
