So I rolled up a few Basic characters.  A thousand, actually.

You can take a look here.

Might be useful to someone out there.

Roger

Crazy.  Did you use a program to generate them all, or did you do these by hand?

Wow...that's incredible.  I was just thinking about how nice it would be to have a bank of pre-made PCs to use.   Thanks.

Lol, this is just crazy enough to be brilliant.

I'd be interested in knowing what the average stat array out of 1000 is.

They're programmatically-generated.  I don't have quite that much free time.

I'm not sure what the most-common stat array would be, but I'll find out.

Roger

4d6 drop, I assume?  The stats seem extraordinarily high, seeing as things seem to be focused around a high of 15 for pre racial stats this edition.  Are they just sorted by total stat points?  (looks like the high stat arrays are first and the craptacular ones last)

That is awesome stuff, but, yeah, the stats seem a bit excessive at times:

002 Diesa Torunn: S20 D14 C18 I14 W15 C15

Easily alterable, though, and having a database of name, classes, traits, personality, etc., is highly useful.

Very nice OP! Might I suggest that you somehow sort the pregens by class? And then you have a small Table of Contents in the front that says "Fighters pages 1-15, Clerics, pages 16-25" and so on. This would make it much easier to find the character you're looking for.

Also, the common stat array (before racial mods) is: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 08

They all seem to be level 1. (I haven't read them in detail so I could be wrong.  There is 1000 of them after all)

Any chance you can run your program a few other times to get some other levels in there?

Very nice! I think I'd avoid this guy, though:

1000 Rolen Gemflower, Elf (High) Fighter (Two-Weapon); S4 D13 C10 I10 W7 C5

Someone asked me what the most common stat array from rolling best-3-of-4d6 is; turns out it is: 15,14,13,12,11,10. Which is 30 points under the standard point buy.

They're all level 1; I'm not sure if I'll generate any at higher levels.  It gets more complicated in a hurry, but it might be useful.

Cheers,

Roger

These are great, thanks. I don't suppose you will make an updated set with the other classes/races when the PHB is released? I don't see a huge need to upgrade them from level 1 as that is pretty easy to do once you have these basic stats.

If and when the Basic rules get updated with new material, I'll probably incorporate it.

Based on some good suggestions, I've updated my document containing the thousand pre-generated Basic characters to add several indices.

You could find a random character who is:

* a dwarf
* a hill dwarf
* a hill dwarf fighter
* a hill dwarf fighter specializing in Great Weapon

…and so forth.

Here's a link to the newest version.
