| #4RamzourAug 03, 2014 6:33:13 | Thanks for playing, demon_idol! Now let's get some more ideas in here....
|
| #5ChrisCarlsonAug 03, 2014 8:05:30 | Halfling Rogue Folk Hero: Bagdolin "the Badger" Gimpley is a thuggish little man who ended up saving a small village accidently despite initial efforts to fleece it. Basically, a small reluctant hero with a chip on his shoulder and a heart of gold burried under a gruff exterior. Think miniature "X-Men's Wolverine" ad you'll get it.
Human Paladin Accolyte: An ordained priest called to the military branch of the church. He tempers his decisions with the enlightened/studdied training he has picked up from the "softer" side of the church. But when it comes time to smite the wrongdoers, it's on!
Half-Elf Sorceress Charlatan: The consumate con artist, she applies her enchantment-focused spells to dupe or manipulate her marks. She also uses her mixed heritage to her advantage, able to adopt a suitable ancestry or lineage from either side of the line as it suits her needs.
|
| #6ChimerasameAug 03, 2014 8:34:58 | Gnome Rogue Criminal: Beclin Dorris is small -- smaller than most gnomes, and halflings even. He's always had a bit of a complex about that, but he's recently decided to treat it as a virtue, being able to sneak through gaps in fences and walls more than most, and in general working on his talents to get into places he shouldn't be. He's a master infiltrator, and can even get into forum threads that are against gnomes. |

|
| #9spelleyAug 03, 2014 10:32:10 | Human Sorceror (Wild Mage) Outlander: A man of many mysteries. Found unconscious in a small village on the outskirts of civilization, shaved bald with a circular symbol tattooed to the back of his head. He awoke with no memory, but the village took him in as one of their own. 2 years later, he begins manifesting his sorcerous powers. Scared of its uncontrollable nature and what it could mean for the villagers, he takes off in search of a way to control it. |
| #10Chameleon-XAug 03, 2014 10:46:54 | Gnome Fighter (Battlemaster) Soldier: Mattias Winters is a hardened warrior who's been defending his homeland since he was a wee lad. He's no stranger to command, and he knows how to whip a group into shape with just his words and gestures. Having a three foot man screaming battle tactics at you may seem funny at first, until you discover he knows 300 ways to disable a medium sized creature without killing them, and isn't afraid to demo a few if one of his men steps out of line. |
| #11ChrisCarlsonAug 03, 2014 10:52:58 | Tiefling Monk Hermit: Inexplicably abandoned as an infant (maybe - that's the story he was given) and raised by the local human monks. Rarely ventured out of the monestary due to his frightening visage (tieflings being extremely rare in these parts). But he has come of age and his sensei has directed him to go forth and discover his heritage.
|
| #12Azzy1974Aug 03, 2014 11:19:30 | Talia Squirrlekin (Gnome Paladin [Avenger] Folk Hero): Tireless opponent of anti-gnome discrimination and oppression, she collects the heads of the anti-gnome tyrants that she has felled. |
| #13Emanuele_GallettoAug 03, 2014 13:15:03 | Argo Silverdeep (Mountain Dwarf Fighter [Battlemaster] Criminal): When Argo was still very young, his family was banished from the dwarven community of Wyvernhold. Cast away in the dark woods of the mountain, Agro's parents met a gruesome end at the jaws of a dire wolf. Human rangers from the hills found him and brought him to the city; there, Agro was raised on the streets by thugs, mercenaries and thieves. He developed a dirty and vicious fighting style, and now earns his living as a sellsword. Argo loathes dwarvenkind because of what they did to his family, and gives little value to life. He has yet to meet a man or woman whose breath is worth more than a sack of gold, but things might change... |

| #18OrwellianHaggisAug 03, 2014 13:43:03 | Human sorcerer (wild magic) folk hero: Helpsop Soreng was just an infant when he fought off a demon trying to possess him by tapping in to the awesome power of unfettered, instinctual magic. He's been famous ever since, and his family has had to rebuild their house at least a dozen times. |

| #23HebitsuikazaAug 03, 2014 15:44:49 | Half-Orc (or Gray Orc) Monk Entertainer - A bare-fisted brawler member of a special league that does public battling performances. Noted for his signature moves the lariat, the reverse piledriver and the figure four leglock, his finishing move, the underhook DDT and shouting his catchphrases all the time.
(Forest) Goblin Druid Outlander - A small threatening little guy one who is caked in mud and probably worse. She looks like a stiff wind could knock her over. Of course, that big slobbering bear she is riding around on might make you think twice about trying it.
Hobgoblin Bard Noble - Surprising clean and intellectual for her people, she seems more like a slimey politician than a fierce warrior. However, she seems to be able to take control of a crowd and get them to successfully complete her ends.
And, since it is required....
Gnome Ranger Sailor - Arr ye salty dogs! Have at ya! Armed with a rapier and fintlock pistol, he's one of the deadliest and dirtiest little privateers on the 7 seas. And his small size seems to only make it that much easier for him to stow away aboard a ship while he plots to seize it and its treasures.
(Seriously, if you actually DIDN'T want Gnome concepts you should have said nothing. Now everyone is going to post Gnome concepts. Unless, of course, you realized this and wrote that line specifically to fish for Gnome concepts. In which case-- well played.) |
| #24spelleyAug 03, 2014 18:29:23 | Posted it elsewhere, but...
Human, Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Hermit: In self-imposed exile after the disappearance of his brother, whom he was committed to protect while he was on a journey to discover the depth and bredth of magic, he eventually forces himself back into the world when his brother's journal makes its way back to him by unknown means. His brother and him were originally the heirs to a noble Waterpudlian family, but was forced to choose between his brother and his parents when his brother was abruptly cast out. He chose to follow the former. (What he doesn't know is that his brother was suspected of killing several transients in an attempt to coax out his "destiny") |

|
| #26waltronAug 03, 2014 20:17:27 | Freginald Fripp, Human Sorcerer Sailor (or, more accurately, fisherman.) A country bumpkin fisherman catches a mystic fish, who offers him three wishes if he tosses the fish back. The fisherman, whose momma always told him not to trust talking fish, eats the fish instead. The fish was, in fact, a low-HP [Epic Level bad guy] who was fleeing [insert plot hook here].
Now Freggie can't help but shoot 'splosions and stuff. He goes on a quest to get rid of his new sorcerous powers (or at least contain them) and figure out who the voice in his head is. |
| #27GladiusLegisAug 03, 2014 21:50:13 | Riatla Wayken, Human Rogue (Assassin), Folk Hero: Found abandoned as a babe a mile from a humble village, where he grew up under the loving foster care of a farmer and his wife and the rest of the small community. Sparring with the other kids as kids do growing up, Riatla developed a talent for dodging the unwieldy attacks of his stronger, bigger peers and hitting them where it hurts with precision every time. Amazingly, Riatla also developed a knack for talking his peers out of needless conflicts. Lately, the noble lord has sent more and more soldiers into the village to subtly intimidate the farmers into paying more taxes, more often, and those soldiers have been increasingly more thuggish. More than once Riatla has had to talk or intimidate a soldier into backing off from a fellow villager, which has earned him a measure of respect despite his young age. At about the same time, a secret order has begun to note Riatla's talents ... |

| #29vacthokAug 03, 2014 23:47:46 | Gaia Branford, Half Elf Wild Sorcerer Outlander: The child of a human mother and a fey lord father, Gaia was stolen from her parents as a young child and subjected to cruel experiments to artificially awaken her fey powers. She was recently found wandering, alone, with no memory of her past by the lovable rogue Key Cole, and now struggles to discover where she comes from and how she came to possess the terrible, chaotic magic powers she has.
Key Cole, Human (Variant: Dungeon Delver feat) Rogue Charlatan: Equal parts gregarious and charming, gallant and incorrible, Key Cole is a born adventurer with a taste for anything that shines. You can call him a swashbuckler, a freedom fighter or a provocateur and, while he has been each of those, he'll be the first to tell you that at his heart, he is a treasure hunter. Just don't call him a thief...

| #33RamzourAug 04, 2014 1:30:31 | Here's one of my favorite character ideas.
Half Elf Wizard/Rogue Urchin. Once there was an Elf Wizard and a Human Rogue. They both grew up on the streets as friends and did petty crime to get by in life. But one day they unknowingly stole a fiendish artifact that changed their lives forever. In a sudden explosion, the elf and the human were sent spiraling through the Planes, through time and space, before finally ending up in a potato field in a flash of light, naked and barely conscious. The farmer came out to see what the commotion was. The farmer saw only a single half elf. |
| #34OrwellianHaggisAug 04, 2014 1:54:33 | Human rogue charlatan: "All" Jack. He gets by on bad-boy attitude and ruthless efficiency. He once snuck a "hot" statuette out of town by hiding it down the front of his breeches. When a watch-woman started to question him he grinned and replied "It's all Jack, sweetling." |
| #35LucienderAug 04, 2014 6:31:01 | Valarithfelsaryx (Ruby), Human (Variant: Elemental Adept Fire feat), Dragon Sorcerer, Ancient Red Dragon Background: The ancient red, Valarithfelsaryx, has recently fallen victim to an improperly worded Wish spell. Goaded into "discovering what it's like to be human" after conversing with a rather charismatic treasure theif who snuck into her lair, the ancient dragon has found to her dismay that being human is horribly repellant to her; as if the lack of scales, claws, and wings could be anything but. The spell seems to have stripped, Ruby, as she has taken to calling herself, of almost all her powers. Even worse, the human brain seems to lack the ability to adequately filter her once potent and expansive spellcasting knowledge. The only consolations of her situation is that Ruby seems to maintain part of her innate connection to fire, she managed to carry off a small portion of her treasure hoard before being forced to flee by a rival dragon, and the human body she now occupies is both youthful and attractive. She has vowed to regain all she lost, destroy the young upstart that stole her hoard and lair, and to exact a long lasting vengeance on the smooth talking human scoundrel that tricked her.
Thanks, Mr. Mearls, for the inspiration. |

| #39MechatarrasqueAug 04, 2014 10:47:32 | In honor of my favorite Robert E. Howard character, Sailor Steve Costigan: Human totemist barbarian (with tavern brawler feat) sailor with a Dire Bulldog animal companion/totemic animal. Don't kick the bulldog--it triggers rage (and the dog will probably bite your foot off anyway). |
| #40GazraAug 04, 2014 14:25:43 | Dragonborn, Bard, Guild Artisan: Torgo was an aspiring musician; a singer and lute player. During his first ever live performance, he accidentally used his fire breath while attempting a high F note and burned the tavern to the ground. Now banned from singing anywhere in public, he works at a shop making instruments. The shopkeeper lets him go down to the basement after hours to play and sing away from anyone who might hear him and notify the authorities. People say now and then late at night you can hear someone, somewhere singing that same high F note. |
