Dear lord, I hope so. Having all the PC access to the books tied to Insider would be short-sighted at best. What would be really nice is a multi-platform app.

This question is asked a few times a week on this very forum. It shouldn't take you too long to find the answer.

The answer is they have nothing to announce on digital products other than what they have with Morningstar.

As GenCon is Thursday through Sunday, there might be an announcement.

If we don’t hear anything by Monday, I would not hold your breath for it.

WoTC is a commercial company if they give away the whole store they would go out of business and no product to enjoy.

Well, the fact is there will be PDFs available eventually, whether WotC is selling them themselves or not.

(If you get my meaning...)

Honestly, evading the digital market for the books would be a really bad move. Lots of people want them for practicity, even people who also own printed books. And of those I know many would rather buy the official stuff, especially if WotC offers free updates with errata and such. If WotC doesn't release them in digital format, these people will search them elsewhere, through other means.

On an entirely unrelated note, I erased the collection of DDN playtest packets I had.  Prolly when I was cleaning up my netbook (backup).

Now that I've seen the finalized warlock I wanted to go back and check out the 'wartlock' from an early playtest.

Anyway, gonna buy the core books but I'm really hoping for PDF/digital products (for the rest) because I am  quite literally outta shelf space (been collecting hardovers and boxed sets for way too many years).

I save every playtest pack that was on pdf format. I  still buy phb. But i will buy   digital so i can havea copy on electronic file and save shelf space. I have 660 reaper minature to paint they take most shelf space  beside it  easy on my back  to carry a labtop and a tablet then like 5 or more books. and make sure  no one takes your books. like one convention where i left a 30 book on the tableconvention was gen con. plus digital book mean easer to move when you move..

Also I am 100 percent certain they would not have seemed it out had it been released a week and a half before they could get it. Not everyone lives near a WPN store. It's a 3 hour drive for me (a 3 hour tour!) I totally get why wizards did the wpn deal and I respect their decision, but I also get why my friends did what they did, waiting for a book since 2011 and all

Yes.

If you're willing to look it's already available.

If you mean a legal PDF from WotC... well, maybe. We'll see.

I already have the PHB on order. I'll gladly also buy a pdf and codename morningstar when it comes out.

In my dreams, they will release a pdf, and it will actually be optimized to be read as a pdf.  The art will be lighter, it won't have that faux-paper texture that has to be loaded on every bloody page, and it will be thoroughly bookmarked and hyperlinked so you can get to referenced rules with a single tap.

In my dreams.

I would also likely buy hard copies and electronic copies.

WOTC has a business decision to make.  It is probably hard for us to understand all the factors that go into that decision.  It does seem puzzling, though, that other companies make the electronic medium work.

At the least, I would hope for a good explanation from Wizards if they decide not to use electronic media.

I like the textured backgrounds; it is easier on the eyes. My laptop has 8GB RAM and does not have problems with big PDFs.

They should layer it so people can turn it off.
