So, spell descriptions could be grouped by spell level first to make reading spells more enjoyed.
May you please considered this for other future products or some minor editions.

| #4trebor_rjfAug 27, 2014 7:30:15 | no, i like being able to look spells up alphabetically. i don't want to consult the 'index' of the spell list page just see what level the spell i'm looking for is so i finally go flipping through the pages after it. |
| #5KarnosAug 27, 2014 8:27:07 | One of the few things I dislike about the PHB. I would prefer to have spells listed by level, or even by class, but I release the duplication required for that would add a lot of pages. |
| #6blake_marloweAug 27, 2014 8:48:18 | for those of us who suffered through previous editions of spell level-sorted spells, please no not ever again.
yes, that's useful during chargen. but during play, it's absolutely miserable.
having said that: there are spreadsheets that sort the spells for you, if you want a tool to help you choose spells. |
| #7DemoMonkeyAug 27, 2014 10:29:26 | The spell list is a perfect example of something best managed by digital tools. Unless you make a ton of different lists - alphabetically, by class, by level, by school, by any combination of two or three of these - you will never arrive at a satisfactory hardcopy choice that pleases everyone. |

| #10GladiusLegisAug 27, 2014 10:45:02 | Grouping by class wasn't the issue. However, those spells definitely should've been grouped by school as well. |
| #11MarandahirAug 27, 2014 13:22:48 | You mean, like this? |

| #13masterfat78Aug 27, 2014 14:25:01 | Yes the spell grouping is kinda bad. Ih there is one thing I see slowing down character creation, its when you get to spells. |
| #14zgroseAug 27, 2014 15:40:51 | Odds are you know the name of the spell before you look for its description so alpha-order by spell name is probably the best bet (per post #8).
Having the page number of the spell would've been a nice touch to minimize page flipping in the lists on pgs 207-211.

| #18setiAug 27, 2014 16:51:53 | I begged for a spell list by level first, then aphabetically second.
I reluctantly accept that they can't (won't) organize them by class too, as there's too much overlap between classes' spells again.
Oh well. Being caster just means a lot more busy work/book keeping homework than it did in 4e. DMing caster monsters is annoying again too.
When looking up a specific spell, yeah, a pure alphbetical listing is good. Only DMs do this a lot, however. For creating and leveling up PCs, having spells organized by level and class makes more sense.
To make more money, they should just publish a Spellbook/compendium that does both. DMs and caster PCs would buy it. |
