| #1akr71Jul 18, 2015 5:50:54 | Is anyone else having a problem with the Players Handbook? I've only had mine for 6 months and the glue on the binding is already letting go. It has only experienced regular use - readings, carrying to game night, etc. No throwing it around or other rough behavior.
The first 66 pages are now all loose and I can tell that the rest of them will soon follow. |
| #2melloredJul 18, 2015 6:21:52 | one of the earlier runs was bad, as far as i know everyone was abe to get them replaced. otherwise most people have been happy. |
| #3BoldItalicJul 18, 2015 6:40:07 | Yes. It's been posted about quite often, here and on other forums. It started happeing within weeks of the PHB first being published
In mine, pages 7 to 96 have come completely loose in bunches (First Printing, Second Impression)
If you live in North America, you can send it back to WotC for a replacement. Otherwise, gluing the pages back in with suitable glue is reported to be successful (I haven't tried that yet, but probably will soon). |
| #4OoftaMegJul 18, 2015 6:44:57 | I've had to replace both my PHB and my MM. Send your defective PHB to http://wizards.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/409/kw/defective/track/AvNzyQpgDv8S~eJhGgQa~yInHcEqWi75Mv~W~zj~PP8f
They'll also return something else - when I sent in my MM they gave me a copy of the new version of the PHB for free.
It does take a few weeks. |
| #5akr71Jul 18, 2015 6:46:27 | Thanks for the quick response. I'm in Canada (so yes to N.America) I have also submitted a 'defective product' ticket with WotC. Not sure I can live without it while waiting for the replacement... |

| #7joeburgosJul 18, 2015 8:35:46 | The PHB is slated for a 3rd printing, so hopefully the printers that Wizards used will have been made aware of their shoddy QA. Its important to give Wizards feedback. Maybe the core books should have been printed in Canada or overseas, (as Fantasy Flight Games do). Unfortunately, these books were pinted in the USA. |
| #8akr71Jul 18, 2015 10:07:41 | I don't think I have the sales receipt any more. So it looks like I'm S.O.L. |
| #9The_JesterJul 18, 2015 11:47:13 | Keep trying, a lack of reciept hasn't stopped other people and it is a defective product. |
| #10ToucJul 18, 2015 15:33:10 | My game store was able to print my receipt. During the return process, the receipt appeared optional since you have to send the defective book back anyways, proof that you own one. I also took pictures and provided those during the complaint process, linked by others above.
I'm still waiting on my replacement (same issue, pages detached from binding); it's been 3 weeks since Fed Ex picked up my book. |
| #11ZardnaarJul 18, 2015 16:03:09 | My PHB is fine as its stiched togather and built to survive the nuclear apocalypse. Oops sorry thats my 1E PHB. 5Eones fall apart if you look at them funny. To much focus on making it look pretty. |
| #12BoldItalicJul 18, 2015 20:22:42 | Update - I've tried using PVA glue, running a line of glue along the edges of the loose pages and pushing them back into place.. So far so good. I'll report back in a month or so. |
| #13warpigletJul 19, 2015 7:30:36 | They replaced mine without a receipt and were very nice. Good product, good service...and they are putting them out with more durability now...good stuff |
| #14OoftaMegJul 19, 2015 8:21:31 | I didn't have a receipt for either my PHB or MM. They replaced both. |
| #15ToucAug 03, 2015 12:36:57 | Update: took a little over 3 weeks, customer service was good about things and replacement book looks good. A positive experience. |
