Not sure if this is the proper place to put the thread, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, it's been not long since the release of the Players Handbook, and mine is already starting to fall apart. Is anyone else noticing this? I can't help but feel like I got a really shoddy copy of the book, because I've never had anything fall apart like this within just a couple months.

There have been issues reported with the printing.

The best thing to do is contact whoever you bought the book from and mention the issue, and if they don't offer a replacement you can probably get one through WotC customer service.

I'm also wondering if some of the better ones might nonetheless start to fall apart several months in. In any case, I'm hoping WotC does something to prevent this with future publications. The binding on the 3e books was so tight is was almost too tight (almost), and never had any of these sorts of issues.

I've got the same problem. I had my Player's Handbook for two months before the binding crapped out, releasing 1/4 of the pages in 2 sections, beginning with the fighter class desrciption. I sent an e-mail to WotC, and they offered to replace it if I mailed it to them without the receipt. Of course, I no longer had it, and informed them of this, along with my suggestion they talk to whomever was responsible for putting the book together and hang a foot in their backside. They offered to replace it without the receipt, and it just arrived yesterday.

Now I'm finding out my Monster Manual is having the same problem with the binding, starting at the beginning of the book and ending at page 6. It remains to be seen how much further this will go. Don't have the receipt for this either, as I purchased it before my PH started falling apart and didn't expect either product to be defective, especially after only two months each. I tend not to hang onto receipts. Lesson learned. I'll be damned sure to file away future receipts for D&D products.

I've heard and read about other instances such as these, so to the OP, you're far from alone in this. I only hope WotC/Hasbro takes this seriously and makes it right, no matter what it takes, from dealing with the supplier putting these books together with kindergarten paste to following up with each and every complaintant. I've played D&D for over 30 years, and the physical quality of their products has never before been an issue. It's a disappointment to think they're now cranking out garbage, and an ever bigger one to be badmouthing the hobby I've enjoyed for so long, but maybe they're in need of some tough-love. Let's just hope someone there is equally capable of breathing fire to their publishers/bookbinders.

What a headache for WotC to have the binding falling apart on their launch books.
