| #1pukunuiJul 26, 2015 1:10:19 | I am wondering if there any adventures set on planes other than the prime material. These can be long or short, official or not. I know that there are some that take place on various layers of the Abyss, and perhaps some others that take you to one or more of the Nine Hells. But what about the elemental planes or the upper planes?
Are there any adventures in which the PCs get to go to the City of Brass, for instance? Are there any in which the PCs might go to some place like Elysium or Arborea? Are there any set in the Outlands?
If you know of any, please post the details here. Thanks! |

| #4ZardnaarJul 26, 2015 3:23:42 | There is a really good one in one of the Dungeon magazines called Nexus IIRC. It was PLanescape but was generric enough to be adapted. I can't remember the issue but it was 1996 IIRC. |
| #5pukunuiJul 26, 2015 4:28:20 | OK, I've done a bit of digging. I've found a few older 2e modules that visit various planes. The Vortex of Madness includes an adventure set in the City of Glass on the Plane of Water, for instance. I also found a free adventure called To the City of Brass that involves trekking across the Plane of Fire to get to the City of Brass. (Apparently the follow-up modules set in the city itself were never written.)
I've also discovered that the Planescape expansions (Planes of Chaos, Planes of Law, etc) contain a series of mini-adventures set in the various planes. Those might be of some use too.
It's too bad hard copies of Planescape stuff is so friggin' expensive! I guess I'll have to settle for pdfs from dndclassics.com. Those are considerably cheaper. |

| #7LuisCarlos17fJul 26, 2015 8:34:48 | My suggestion is for low players, the Gate-towns from the Outlands, around Sigil, with their own demiplanes.
Other ideas is to recover the plane of the mirror, next to the plane of the shadow..
And the background of the AD&D chronomancers... because you could use alternative timelines for cannon settings, for example a time sphere where lord Soth really saved Krynn avoiding the Cataclysm. |
| #8Ath-kethinJul 26, 2015 11:36:22 | The Al-Qadim setting had a few asldventurs that touched upon or directly involved the Inner Planes and the City of Brass. If memory serves, Secrets of the Lamp had the most - including a section of a manual specifically describing the City of Brass and containing a map. |
| #9pukunuiJul 26, 2015 12:45:41 | Al-Qadim! It never occurred to me to look there! Thanks. |
| #10arnwolf666Jul 26, 2015 13:14:11 | I enjoyed secrets of the Lamp and Al Qadim very much |
| #11arnwolf666Jul 26, 2015 13:52:08 | I am also going to respectfully disagree with you that planescape does not fit with the current cosmology or even 4E cosmology. Planescape never had hard rules on how the cosmology was structured, their were many competing hypothetical models. Sigils, exists, gates exist, the planes still exist. Everything planescape wrote about the cosmology was "according to so and so", "some people believe", etc. It was the beauty of the setting, no absolutes were given. It was all about perspective, all the models might even be true from the right perspective. The planes weren't separate by physics or space. |

| #25pukunuiJul 26, 2015 22:39:27 | Could you guys please take your discussion of the nature of the cosmos in the Planescape setting elsewhere? I'm sure it's fascinating, but it's not helping me find what I'm looking for. Thanks! |

Also look at Tales from the Infinite Staircase and maybe A Paladin in Hell

| #28pukunuiJul 27, 2015 1:11:02 | I've had a look at both Well of Words and Tales from the Infinite Staircase. I think I might be able to use some of the stuff in those. I've heard of A Paladin in Hell before but have not actually looked at it. Is it any good? |
| #29Delazar78Jul 27, 2015 2:24:33 | I have read it, but not DMed it, and I think it's pretty good
some reviews say it is a "classic" - https://www.sfsite.com/10b/pal43.htm
Personally, lately I prefer shorter scenarios, two/three fights at maximum, sprinkled with RP encounters, this is definitely a longer module than what you find in Well of Worlds and Infinite Staircase. |
| #30GlimjackJul 27, 2015 2:55:34 | You could try the 2e adventure "Die, Vecna, Die!"
It start on Oerth where you chase Iuz through the mists to Ravenloft, but it's a trap set by Vecna who is luring Iuz there to kill him so he can harness the power released by the death of a god to escape the Demiplane of Dread, eventually the PCs end up being dumped into the middle of Sigil in the Outer Planes. |
