Planetouched?

In the last Playtest, it mentions that the "planetouched" (ie. original tieflings) were similar to the new tieflings but with much diluted blood. That is all that is said of them.

Anyone heard of plans to release the "planetouched" as a playable race soon? We weren't sure what to do for this poor player so he is playing with human stats and the planetouched part is all RP.

Why don't you just make them yourself?

Use the Tiefling as a basis and replace the attributes, resistances and spells with ones that make sense for that particular element.

I'd use tiefling stats and reflavor things. Or human stats. Or Variant Human.

But probably tiefling.

Might get something in the MM if they do templates like "planetouched" and be able to just apply the template to the human race. Otherwise you'll likely have to houserule it and use the tieflling or human as a baseline and just add/remove features. The older (pre-4e) tieflings would probably work well as just a reflavored human with the flexibility of the human ability scores (and variant human option) with the extra random physical changes to give them the tiefling look like Planescape did. Might swap out the variant human extra feat with darkvision and a +1 in another ability score.

I wish the return of all canon planetouched PC races. One of my favorites are the celabrins... elves with eladrin ancestors. Another was the "mechanatrix" from Friend Folio.

I heard a number of playable races will be in the DM's Guide, such as Warforged and Orc.  I imagine this is where Planetouched will end up.

Even though High Elves are called High Elves again, I highly doubt the separation of Eladrin and High Elves reverted – I imagine the Celabrin are lost in a valley of non-existence in this case, because Eladrin are CALLED Elves, now.
