Sentinel: When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, the creature's speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn.
Reach (Pike, Halberd, Glaive): This weapon adds 5' to your reach when you attack with it.
Mobile: When you make a melee attack against a creature, you don't provoke opportunity attacks from that creature for the rest of the turn, whether you hit it or not.
So, if I'm reading this correctly...you could stop an approaching enemy (who has 5' reach) at 10' then retreat out of range and wait for him, and keep repeating that every round, and unless you miss he will never get to attack you.
EDIT: Actually, you don't even need Mobile, do you, because you've stopped him at 10' so there's no AoO if you retreat. |
| #2SturmunddrangAug 09, 2014 21:40:18 | Your reach with it is only 10 when you attack with it. It is a really really bad way of wording that you don't threaten to 10 feet.
Mobile is nice, but you can just take 1 level of rogue for disengage free every turn. The fact that you use disengage at the start of your turn and then charge through their line to brutally introduce their caster to your glaive may make the name of the maneuver innappropriate as all anything, but hey, love hurts. |

| #4LokironAug 10, 2014 5:45:17 | Those two levels will then delay your feat acquisition. Edit: Unless it's a human rogue build (which it isn't, as you need str for the glaive). |
| #5JRutterbushAug 10, 2014 7:57:09 | There's also the fact that Mobile prevents opportunity attacks for the rest of the turn, not the rest of the round. So you'd only get a benefit if you moved on the turn of the enemy that you hit with the opportunity attack. Otherwise, you have to hit a target on your turn to get the benefit of the Mobile feat's opportunity attack negation. |

| #7GladiusLegisAug 10, 2014 12:48:32 | Also, if you're doing the Lv. 20 Theorycraft (TM) build, note that if you take 2 Rogue levels for Cunning Action and free Disengage, you're also cheesing yourself out of the last ASI at Lv. 19. An ASI that could've bought Mobile, anyway, and then you still have access to your Lv. 20 capstone while being functionally similar. |
| #8GhostStepperAug 10, 2014 12:52:43 | I like Warcaster for the polearm combo. Cast a spell at anyone that steps next to you. |
| #9TheMattyLeeAug 10, 2014 13:11:10 | Yeah... this actually doesn't work. |

| #11OverpromisesAug 10, 2014 13:18:28 | Why should two polearm users both with the Polearm Master provoke an attack of opportunity when one approaches to 10 feet of the other?
|
| #12LokironAug 10, 2014 13:22:01 | In that case, I think it's reading too much into the "when you attack" part. The case you present (two polearm masters) is a corner case that should have no bearing on the general rules. However, I would think it reasonable to wing that situation in the way you suggest. |

| #16LokironAug 10, 2014 13:39:20 | Sort of a weird writing isn't it? One could think opportunity attack is an attack, too. I know the explanation for this one; the provocation never happens and so the attack cannot be made. Still, am I the only one who thinks the writing is weird? Would it have been so difficult to write: "This weapon adds 5 feet to your reach when you attack with it. It does not increase general reach."? |
| #17masterfat78Aug 10, 2014 13:51:29 | I think the fact that it takes three feats for this build will show some short comings in actual play. %th is kinda made to go 50/50 between stat boosts and feats. Unless you start out at a high enough level to do this and you will still have low stats for the level. |

| #19GhostStepperAug 10, 2014 14:02:55 | Yay, for a return to natural (naturally obscure) wordings. |
| #20LokironAug 10, 2014 14:25:51 | Hmm.. I find it difficult to not stand by my initial reading (you simply get reach), when Mike Mearls agrees. The way I see it, the writing is weird so go with what seems to be the intent. Then again, how arrogant of me to claim I know the intent.. |

| #24Plaguescarred1Aug 11, 2014 3:12:24 | If the weapon property reach increase was passive rather than active, creatures provoking opportunity attacks upon entering a polearm master's reach would be out of range to be attacked being 15 feet away as reaction interrupt the action triggerring it!

| #26GriffordAug 11, 2014 7:27:46 | Yeah, the rule about reach weapons is not vague in the slightest. |
| #27dmgorgonAug 11, 2014 7:51:09 | I think Mearls confirmed that when you leave a creature's reach you provoke. The 5 foot adjacent squares and those 10 feet away are within reach. That means that you don't provoke the moment you exit the 10 foot square and enter the 5 foot adjacent square. You only provoke when you exit into the 15 foot square. In other words, your reach with a polearm includes all adjacent squares and those 10 feet away. A foe can run circles around you and not provoke provided he is within reach.
That makes it very clear to me that against a polearm master you provoke if you enter his 10 foot square. |

| #29Tony_VargasAug 11, 2014 13:58:03 | Well, once this is all cleared up - if it ever is - we just might be able to make 'battlefield control' fighter builds.
It'd be nice. Give at least one sort of fighter a little tactical impact beyond DPR. (Not that huge DPR doesn't have tactical impact....) |

| #31DM_DieOnTheWaySep 08, 2014 9:28:32 | Mike Mearls just explicity confirmed that Reach weapons extend your reach to 10'. |
| #32Plaguescarred1Sep 08, 2014 15:23:45 | Jeremy Crawford also confirmed on twitter the distance at which a creature provoke OA upon entering a Polearm Master reach depending on the weapon wielded;
@JeremyECrawford On the grid, the target is adjacent if you're using a quarterstaff, but 5 feet away with the other PM weapons.
