Dravos [DRAV-us] was born 23 winters ago in late 1465 DR in Zhentil Keep. Born son of a prostitute mother and a Zentilar father, he suffered unspeakable mistreatments during his youth, until he could flee. Dravos started working as a dock hand at the age of 14, and sailed away as soon as he could, navigating on the Moonsea wherever ships offering work would take him. He eventually crossed the wrong kind, a pirate ship called The Tortula, a trading vessel operating for the Zhentarim, also known as the black network. He soon started to delve into piratry and has become a buccaneer ever since. Between assignments on whatever ships he can find, Dravos look for mercenary work on land. Selfish by nature, he only cares about himself and how much he can make, this by any means necessary. Dravos is a tall bald man who covers his head under a leather hat and a bandana. Blind of one eye resulting from an “accident” he won’t just tell about, he had it recently sewed shut. Dravos wears a leather vest and belt covered of fake gold trinket made of tarnished brass and carry typical sailors’ weapons, a curved hilted short sword known as a cutlass and a hilted parrying dagger also called a main-gauche.

My first character will be Dan Fan Dango, an elf who was taken in by the church at a young age, saving him from growing up on the streets. Illiterate when he was taken in, he has since been taught to read and has displayed a talent for languages. He chose his own name early on from words he liked the sound of.

Straightforward build, cleric 1, acolyte background.

Wields a curved long sword, wears leather armour under a loose white shirt and baggy black trousers. Think of Afro Samurai, that's the pic I'm using to represent this guy.

Bond: not sure. I was going to put down "disadvantaged children" but... is that too vague?

Ideal: utter selflessness.

Flaw: fooled easily by those who profess faith in his faith.

I rolled the "candle that won't light" trinket when creating him. His faith lights candles for the dead, to help their souls find their way to the afterlife. After a lot of thinking, Dan has decided that this is his candle. He lights it every morning, and fails, and takes that as a sign that his god isn't finished with him yet. If it ever lights, he'll know it's his day to die, and he'll put all his affairs in order accordingly.

I don't have a single character yet.  However, I invite anyone that wants to peruse some of my players building their characters to look at these links.  Check out the threads that have the prefix 'character.'

I'd like to ressurrect this thread. It would be very useful to me (and probably others) to see the characters you're creating with 5e.  Please share!

Marius is a noble from Waterdeep and is in love with an heireess from an opposing house his famiuly does not approve of. He tends to treat people respectfully iof somewhat ironically for thoise he doesn't like. He is somewhat paranoid however and sees threats and veiled insults in casual converations even where none is intended. As a younger son of his family it was unlikely he would inherit his family fortunes so has taken up adventuring to see the world as joing the church of Sune had little appeal, He sees himself as a dashing and charismatic leader type and looks down a little bit on those he regards as genetically inferior (anyone with lower stats than himself).
