| #3LinkTreeOct 08, 2014 6:45:43 | I was looking for a way to contact wizard - couldnt find a support page or an email... |
| #4autolycusOct 08, 2014 8:40:54 | You didn't buy the book from Wizards. You bought it from Amazon.
That's the organization that you should contact in order to get a refund or replacement. |
| #5DaveyJones6913Oct 08, 2014 8:42:11 | another one? this is intolerable. how WotC isn't bending over backwards to appologise for this is absurd as well.
wtf are you people thinking? paizo is kicking your ass, you cannot afford to alienate your core audience like this.
what do you think would happen to apple if they delivered products like this and failed to respond to it? it would be the end of apple that's what.

| #8XguildOct 08, 2014 11:26:35 | There must have been some bad batches because my book is sturdy as hell, probobly the best binding I have seen in a book in years. You should definitly get a refund. |
| #9Brock_LandersOct 08, 2014 14:09:04 | For what it's worth, my books, of all editions, have been fine (hey, maybe I'm lucky). ...actually, my 1st Ed PHB is a SOB, shampoo spilled all over during college transit of my brother (whom bequeathed it to me) in 1987, made it somehow, more bloodthirsty hands upon the game, now, to this day, seems to be holding up like a mofo. |

| #11mrsrockguruOct 09, 2014 7:30:47 | I have a book brought from a FLGS on early release and sections are now pulling away from the spine, checked with my FLGS they suggested talking to WoTC customer service first?
|
| #12TimboramaOct 09, 2014 8:35:42 | The FLGS is probably being lazy. You could get a refund/exhange through either them or WotC directly. But the FLGS just doesn't want to do it themselves...
Also, Tallric, if it makes you feel any better, my MM is a-okay. And the only problem I've heard of are weird semi-smudges on the Minotaur/Mindflayer page. If you can open the book, check there, and if nothing, you're fine. The only other thing I've heard is a single person who has a book with extra pages, meaning it's technically a misprint, but since it's not actually missing any info (the duplicate pages don't replace anything), the owner is keeping it. Because it might be worth a lot of money in the future... |

| #14Cyber-DaveOct 09, 2014 10:19:27 | My books seem to be holding up pretty well for now... but yea, it seems like they had a few bad batches. If I had to guess, this has to do with their choice of printer/publisher. Its too bad, as apart from this issue (which I worry will scare away potential customers), these are hands down my favorite copies of PHB/MM products ever. The layout, art quality, and rules are fantastic! |
| #15LinkTreeOct 09, 2014 12:00:49 | Thanx guys for the ideas! I must agree and say that the actual content is super and I really like the book (I even got the Monsters manual as well).
My main problem is that I've order it from the US to Israel and sending it back will cost almost as the actual book... That is why I dont like to send it back - I'll try contacting WotC - or simply get a new one...

| #16TheGimperOct 09, 2014 12:31:46 | My PHB started coming apart last night as well. The store where I bought it (and play) is going to contact WOTC to see how they want to handle it, and then they'll replace it for me. |
| #17caridhorOct 09, 2014 15:40:47 | Despite some folks protests to the contrary, it is a problem with books coming apart and an overall poor quality. It is not WOTC fault, but they should say something or at the very least acknowledge the problem, none of the books I have from any of the other edtions had these problems,. but this seems to be popping up. |

| #21setiOct 09, 2014 23:42:40 | My 4e Dark Sun books are excellent. Ironically, they're pretty much the only 4e books I'd never sell, and they're the ones worth the most.
I did have a few bleed/smear problems with my 4e MM's 1 and 2. Another thing I noticed was water soluable ink. Some water got on a page, and it basically erased a stat block...Just with dabbing it with a clean towel. Watch out for that. Best to let it air dry, open, and be safe.
My 5e MM is great (thankfully). Although, I've only had it for about 8 days now...
This is what you get when printing goes to the lowest bidder. I can't be mad at WotC for doing that, though.
This stuff is a reason why I'd never buy from a LGS that shrink wraps/doesn't let you page through. I'd rather gamble with Amazon. They're at least really cool about returns and customer satisfaction...If you're quick about it. I didn't recieve a D&D order (several 4e Essentials products, totaling about 55 USD). I complained. It was the only time I ever complained to Amazon. They rush Fed Ex-ed me replacements; no charge. About 5 months later, I got my original shipment from my local (and apparently crappy) USPS. So...I had mint copies to sell/trade, LMAO.
PS: I still have my 1e MM. It's a tank...Been beaten to hell, used to prop up tables, used as a lap desk, moved across the US 3 times...Still bound. It's not pristine, but it's clean (aside from dented corners, of course.) They just don't make 'em like they used to. In myyyy...daaaaay....I wore an onion on my belt...It was the STYLE of the times....
I'll shut up now. |

| #23AnsbachOct 15, 2014 18:39:53 | My PHB is falling apart too. Bought it from Amazon and got it on Day One so it is past the 30 day return policy.
EDIT:
I called WotC Customer Service. They are aware of the issue and will replace the book past the 30 days, but you have to ship it to them. Currently, they will give you $5 Gift Certificate for OneBookShelf (DriveThruRPG/RPGNow/DNDClassics) as compensation to cover the cost of your shipping.

Not terribly happy that I have to be without it while I ship it to them and wait for a return, but at least they will replace it. |
| #24ThorgeirOct 16, 2014 6:12:36 | It's definitely been a widespread problem with the PH. I also have ink problems on my first copy, especially page 175. The second copy was not as bad.
Solution:
The best solution is to get a second copy and go to a local print shop, have them high-res scan the covers, laminate them, use the original interior pages and coil bind the book. The best thing you can do for a heavily used copy. It will lay open flat on the table and easier to use. |
