| #1TornShirtRequiredJan 01, 2015 16:27:33 | Hi I am a Nerd
This is my first post on the Wizards Community forum and although I have played many games inspired by Dungeons and Dragons I have a question about Race and Class Mix. After scouring the internet and this forum I can not locate what I am looking for.
I am looking for a matrix/table which lists all of the player races and player classes which make sold builds and if those builds have special names. Either formal by Wizards of the Coast or player assigned names will be fine for what I am looking for.
I know certain races make great matches for certain classes and others would be interesting while some might be horrible combinations. Looking through the Players Handbook I have some ideas about how certian class and race bonus could mix together but I am far from an expert and I'm looking for the input of seasoned players beyond what themath might say.
I look forward to your comments.
Thanks.

But really, because this is a role-playing game, regardless of math/mechanics, how awesome your character is depends upon YOU. |

Honestly, it isn't necessary, and pretty easy to interpret with common sense. Do Dragonborn make good Paladins? Well, yeah, they have a bons to Str and Cha. Do Tieflings make good Barbarians? Not especially, as their stat bonuses contribute nothing to help the barbarian, and their racial spells can't be cast while raging. I wouldn't say any combination is unplayable, even if some are demonstrably better. I have a Wood Elf Paladin in the group I run for, and she gets along just fine, even though all she really gets out of it is 5ft of movement speed.
I'm unaware of any special names for builds as of yet, but this edition is pretty young. I'd imagine as potent combinations are uncovered, they'll be given names.
