No longer being young and fancy free, I waited until Amazon shipped the books to save a ridiculous amount of money (and cash in on gift cards—thanks, Bing) on the PHB and adventure. So for everyone who ordered online or whose FLGS isn't a preferred store, today is the big day.

I'm sitting here on not much sleep (not related to the release) waiting for FedEx to decide to show up. (They tend to do that later rather than sooner.) I'm working on my packet for my campaign (chargen next Monday) while looking forward to actually touching the newest edition.

I've been playing since blue box when I was in elementary school, and cut my teeth on a mix of AD&D and BECMI, and played a lot of 2e in high school. 3e mostly passed me by until later (when I played it as Pathfinder) and I bought into but didn't play 4e much at all.

I "playtested" 5e from the beginning in that I followed along as the rules were laid out and iterated, but the game I start running next week will be my first under the new (old/hybrid) system.

And I'm pretty excited.

So what's everyone else doing this fine, fine day?

I got mine on the FLGS release day, but I've been so busy I've only been able to glance through it and read a few sections. I'm looking forward to being able to sit down with it and really dig in.

I've read through (ok, skimmed in parts) to part 2 and enjoyed it thusfar.

It came in a box while I had to work a late shift, placed lovingly on my desk by my awesome wife. 930 PM I get off, go home, open it up, and proceed to spend most of the night flipping through it. Gorgeous books to be sure. Nothing new to surprise me, really, in the age of digital instant information. But it was nice to have it in my hands.
